loss of apetite

Helloooo
back online after a severe internet blackout over here  >:(

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a loss of apetite ( gosh, can´t remember how to spell it either!). I mean I´m not starving myself but I just don´t have any interest. I used to love my food, my mum used to call me ´hollow legs´. Now if I cook, which is most days, I´ve gone off it by the time we sit down. if I don´t cook, I´m never happy with what´s put in front of me. Have especially gone off fish, and anything ´heavy´.
Also I know my diet could be better but I can´t be bothered. I´ve always been slim, but don´t do as much excercise as I used to. Have 1 or 2 cuppas a day, and 1 coffee. Do eat some sweets too.  ::) Half a glass of wine daily. I always plan to do things but when it comes to it can´t be bothered  :-\ Is it too much carbs?

still grumpy

Hello grumpyjane.

Yep, I get this too. I seem to have phases of being very hungry followed by loss of appetite and no interest in food. I also get the nausea and generally low mood feelings. I usually panic when I feel like this but it does pass.

I think some ladies have noticed a change in the foods they enjoy and can tolerate plus digestive issues seem pretty common as well. Oh, the joys.

I'm sure others will be along soon to offer advice.

Wishing you well.

I think I eat less and tend to want less now in meno... Always loved my food tho and a healthy appetite, but had to watch the weight cos I am prone to put it on easily and it shows..
Now I tend to stick more to eating 3 x a day and if I nibble I try to make it something healthy

I have never noticed loss of appetite at all - I enjoy my food. Like booboo I have to eat far far less now I am post-menopausal and have a tendency to weight gain but I have greatly modified my diet (definitely almost no sugar and very low carb), have increased my exercise - including muscle toning - and I am therefore still pretty slim.

If your loss of appetite persists I would maybe take a trip to the doc just to get checked out - but it sounds like you are feeling a bit listless generally - maybe due to circumstances? If you can try to make yourself do more exercise - you will feel so much better, get more hungry and sleep better (if this is a problem)!

Yep.  Currently I am fighting a Germ and can't face food.  Nothing sensible anyway.  I've had a small bowl of muesli and half a mango this morning now my gut is rumbling and I have heart burn >sigh<

Hello

I have always experienced loss of appetite on a monthly basis linked to my cycle, so it can definitely be linked to hormonal changes.  I get really hungry before ovulating and then lose my appetite before bleeding.

I have not changed my diet but have lost nearly a stone (from 10 to 9 stone, I am 5'7") over the 2 yrs I have been in peri, which could be due to more excercise.
I mentioned this to gynae specialist at menopause clinic and he said don't worry about it.

So it might be 'normal' but definitely worth mentioning to your Dr.

Thanks for the words of wisdom as always.
Yes sparkle, I do feel  rather low, although this is due to circumstances as well. ie. living abroad and feeling a bit isolated.
I used to always feel reaaly hungry after a period, but that was loooong ago as I am now def post-meno (almost 59). I´m not fading away but I find I am eating less.
I know I need more excercise which would give me more of an appetite. I do yoga 3 times a week. Today I went for a 50 min walk and then did an hour of gardening and I feel totally exhausted. I´m using oestrogel/utro and am on the utro phase at the moment, maybe it´s that too.

Right, I need to at least cut down on sugar and carbs and try to walk more. The low feeling is something else altogether  :-\

Hope you feel better soon CLKD
