So confused
« on: March 23, 2016, 09:13:11 AM »

Originally saw consultant as o thought going through early peri menopause.  Im 32. Symtoms were flooding,  then light periods, anxiety, mild flushes,  sleepless nights, major horrible mood swings.

Saw professor who put me on prostap. This stops ovaries from working. This was to see if it was my ovaries causing the problem.  This worked. Only expected thing was hot flushes.

I've now had second prostap and 75 mg patch.

When I go back depending on how this trial goes will depend on whether he tries mirena coil (terrified of this because of what I've read) or a removal of ovaries and womb.  Obviously not taking thus lightly. I had got go the stage that I was struggling to drive as so jumpy and my two year old in constant childcare due to me being unable to cope.  I was angry and taking it on them too.  Horrible to admit. Felt like my life was over.

What outcome from trial meds will lead to which next stage?

Is this pmt or peri menopause?  My mum went through exact same thing at thus age with periods stopping at 40 so I assumed the same.

I'd really appreciate any comments.  So so confused.

We seem to be having similar issues. Mine started when I was 37 I'm now 41. Read my past posts as we've had similar treatment. I was given zoladex to stop ovaries but not given HRT so was in a right state.

I saw a specialist privately who diagnosed premature ovarian failure

Read this is may be of use http://www.guysandstthomas.nhs.uk/resources/patient-information/gynaecology/premature-ovarian-failure.pdf

Have you had blood levels checked before you started treatment?

I really feel for you as I know what it's like to suffer mentally like this. My anxiety is that I'm practically housebound. I have to take sedatives if I need to go anyway as panic attacks are so bad. Patches helped me but I couldn't tolerate progesterone part. I'm off HRT for 4 weeks as specialist wants to do bloods again.

Hi, don't know much about your particular circumstances but just wanted to say don't be terrified of the Mirena.

4 of my closest friends have had the Mirena for years and years, they love it.  2 of them get no periods at all using it and the other 2 get really scant ones.  All 4 of them have no side effects whatsoever.

I went to have it a few years ago however there was a problem with my cervix and the doctor couldn't even get the measuring probe in, I was gutted!!!!!  It's the easiest way to have progestogen that I can think of.

Remember, the ladies who have problems are unlucky; you will in all probability not be one of them.
