What a difference a day makes!
« on: February 18, 2016, 12:01:18 PM »

After 6 days of Hell (I am very progesterone intolerant) on the progesterone tabs in Femoston 2/10 I stopped taking them last Thursday, and just reverted to the oestrogen only tabs.

But was still suffering with nausea, and the synthetic progesterone was clearly still in my system as still felt dreadly low and very anxious. So yesterday I stopped Femoston completely and applied a 50mg patch.

The nausea stopped by lunch, and by tea time my mood was really improving. Felt much calmer, more energised and sociable. Slept very well and woke feeling 99% fine and normal.

So, it's clear that even the 'nice' progesterone in Femoston is poison for me, and that it takes a good 5 days to leave my system (it took roughly 5 days for me to recover from the progesterone tabs in 1/10 last month too).

I just hope that my posts might help other women realise that maybe they are very progesterone intolerant too, and that's why, despite being on HRT, they still get a nasty reoccurance of anxiety/depression each month. Plus, that it can take nearly a week to 'recover' from the side effects of the progesterone.

GPL, that's brilliant.  I think you have done most of the work yourself here and it is blindingly obvious that you are very severely intolerant to all types of synthetic progesterone.

I hope you do better on the Utrogestan when you (hopefully) start on it but remember, it must be kept to an absolute minimum for women like us otherwise you will be right back to square one.  Utrogestan is better than all the synthetic varieties of progesterone but it is not the real deal and still has bad side effects if taken in large quantities and not as well tolerated in taken orally.

Thank you. I just hope my posts highlight how dreadful progesterone can make you feel, if you are really intolerant to it.

I now totally get why some women end up hospitalised after the birth of their baby due to post partum psychosis!

MaryG, I intend to try and get away with as little Utro as possible. Even when on medium dose patches, 11days of Utro only ever gave me a light bleed, only lasting 2-3 days, so obviously my womb lining just doesn't build up that much anymore?

My natural periods had become very light prior to starting HRT too.

I don't understand. If you felt better only after going off the estrogen only tabs and back to patch, are you sure it wasn't the oral estrogen causing problems?

Liza, I'm fine on the oestrogen only tabs, as proved by me feeling fine in them last month, and again this month. It's only when I start the combi tabs that all my problems start. I stopped taking the combi tabs, last week, after just 6 days of them. But it's taken 5 days for the progesterone to clear my system.

The exact same thing happened last month on Femoston. Felt dreadful for the whole 14 combi tab days, and only started to improve after I'd finished them and was several days into the oestrogen tabs. Then felt great until I had to start the combi tabs again.

Yay! Glad you're feeling better today, Gypsy!!   :gym:

I know exactly how you feel - this was exactly my kind of post earlier this week!!!  :D
Its like sticking your head out into the sunshine above ground after being crouched in a black hole isn't it?  ;D

No wonder we think we are going mad at times! :D
Joking aside, at least we understand it all a little, our poor ancestors is all I can say. No wonder they used to lock women away!

Hope you continue to feel good!  x

Glad you're having a good spell GRL, you deserve one.  ;)
I always wonder during the dark days how low i will go and it's only when I'm okay I realise how bad it was. On the way down at the mo but hopefully won't hit the bottom.
Enjoy your good days but don't go mad with renewed energy and knacker yourself out!!
