Decision time - Utrogestan tonight or Provera tomorrow.
« on: January 14, 2016, 06:31:50 PM »

It's been 7 weeks on my oestrogen only patch (25) and I've got to take some progesterone. When I took provera at the end of November for the first time for 12 days,I didn't revert to my oestrogen only good feeling for the whole of December. Was it a virus threatening that I finally succumbed to over Christmas or the effects of the Provera? I have utrogestan supplies but it's an unknown. I've had lots of support from ladies on here but now it's decision time I don't know which way to go. One day my mind might be free from constantly thinking about hrt  >:(

How did the Provera make you feel while taking it? I opted for Utrogestan (well, the American equivalent) because I had dizziness and migraine problems years ago from the synthetic in Mirena. I'm only on my fifth day of it, but I had to pep talk myself into taking the 3rd night. First night was fair. Second night was terrible, couldn't sleep, restless legs, terrible drugged feeling. Third, fourth, and fifth nights have been better each night. I am  sluggish and a little depressed, but I can't say if that's because of the progesterone or because that's just how I am these days. I hadn't reached an estrogen only good feeling yet. Not sure if that helps, but there's my experience. I would probably give it another course of Provera if you didn't have a terrible experience with it. You may feel better this round.

The one is synthetic, the other not. It would not even be an option for me, is it the 100 or 200mg Utro? 100mg for 12 days works a treat, good luck in your decision.

Thanks ladies. 100mg for the Utro which I would try internally rather than orally. The thing is with the Provera I felt OK first few days then I was wired up ( horrible phrase to use but it's totally the right one to use).  Couldn't sleep and I wonder if that's why I was vulnerable to viruses as I wasn't sleeping. As it was closer to Christmas id had a couple of glasses of wine whilst taking the Provera and I wonder if it reacted.
