Period or breakthrough bleeding
« on: December 29, 2015, 09:26:41 PM »

Since stopping Qlaira I've only been on 2 pumps of oestrogel until 2 days ago when I upped to 4. I've felt rather anxious, jittery and low etc and also been having trouble sleeping, I just put it down to th usual anxiety but Today I started a bleed (bright red)? Do you think this is a natural period or because of upping the oestrogel?
My last bleed was around 5 weeks ago I think? When I stopped Qlaira.

Thanks  :)

My boobs are really sore too  :-\ they've not felt this sore since before hrt when I was on cerazette.
I didn't think I'd made a note of it but I did and my last bleed was 28 Nov
Damn restless legs have made an appearance too!  >:(

Hi Chi Chi

Not really sure what the answer is, but didn't want to read and run.

Have you taken any progesterone since you started the gel ? Progesterone can cause sore boobs, as it did with Cerazette, so if you have taken none, then perhaps it's your own hormones kicking in - ie a proper period? Can you have a withdrawl bleed if you're not actually withdrawing from anything, if that makes sense?

TBH I am just thinking out loud. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along!

Take care x

Thanks Briony, I'm also thinking it's my own hormones causing the bleed, that the 2 pumps wasn't enough to suppress them? I've gone up to 4 again now. Still feel quite spaced out and anxious, not nice especially at this time of year when everyone expects you to be happy!

It's usually 4 pumps minimum to suppress ovulation. Are you taking any progesterone?

Know just what you mean about everyone expecting you to be happy this evening - my partner is away (working) which doesnt help. Gives my stupid hormonal brain more time to think! xxxx
