Advice before Drs app regarding HRT type & bleeding
« on: December 28, 2015, 11:09:54 PM »

I've just made an appointment to see my GP tomorrow morning and wanted some advice on what to do?? I've been on Evorel conti for 9 & half weeks and have bleeding again, I've pretty much bled every 10 to 11 days lasting over a week each time, it's not just spotting either and it's really getting me down, I've also had really sore boobs off and on but more so when I'm bleeding, or just before a bleed. It's working well for the sweats and my constant hotness that I suffered from & is even helping reduce my migraine but I just feel more irritable & weepy than I did at the beginning of using the patch so I'm guessing along with the sore boobs that there's a possibility the Norethisterone in it is not agreeing with me. Hubby is saying I haven't given it long enough but I'm really fed up with the bleeding and cramps and now feeling irritable & anxious again. Trouble is what do I ask for next? I'd prefer to stay on patches as I'm a migraine sufferer but Femseven conti is my only other option isn't it? I'm also sceptical about trying a sequi as I was reading on here that the dip when you switch from the oestrogen only to the combined patch can trigger headaches?? Really not sure what to do?? Or should I cancel the Drs app and hold out a bit longer? We're going on a big holiday in early May and I'm quite anxious to get this HRT sorted and be settled by the time we go, I certainly don't want to have breakthrough bleeding as heavy as it is at the mo.Confused and fed up.

Breakthrough or continuous bleeding is common for the first six months of using a conti HRT so I would agree with your husband that you may need to give it a longer to see if you settle. All HRT's should be tried for at least three months anyway before you can really decide whether they suit you or not. It is difficult to deal with the spotting and bleeding but it depends on how bad your symptoms were before HRT as to whether it is worth persevering. I had continuous bleeding for six months when on a conti HRT and swapped back to sequi as at least I would then know when a bleed would occur. I didn't have any problems with a "dip".
