Hello I'm new
« on: December 22, 2015, 06:10:01 PM »

Hi there,

I'm 48 and started HRT patches 5 days ago ( femseven conti). My main symptom is VA.
I'm experiencing 'achey' feelings in my legs...could this be the leg cramps that are mentioned as a possible side effect?

If so,will that settle down?

Also, does anyone know when I should expect to notice any improvements?

Thanks ladies.. I've been reading this site for a little while now.Love that there's so much support and information x

Hello Toptotoe  :welcomemm:

It's takes anything from 3-6 months to settle into an HRT. As for how long it takes to see improvements, we're talking how long' s a piece of string? It can be anything from a couple of weeks onwards. I don't have any experience of VA but from what I've read you might need a local oestrogen cream as well as your patches.

Have fun reading the green menus at the top for ideas.

Thank you for your reply Galadriel,

Before HRT patches I had been prescribed vagifem pessaries which I used as prescribed for a month ( one daily for 2 weeks, then twice a week for 2 weeks). It had no effect. Maybe I should have tried it for a longer period ??

Here's hoping that the patch will be more successful x

I have done over a year of vagifem and did nothing for me now on HRT 2/1/2 weeks on and things are starting to change for the better the specialist I saw said some ladies need both vagifem and full for VA.

Thanks Maryjane,

I'm happy to keep going with the HRT patch...and a vagifem again if necessary. Don't want to 'put up with' VA...that was shock to me when that started x

Hi Toptotoe

 :welcomemm:

Hope you feel better with the patches. What have your periods been doing over the past year or so, and what patches have you been given?

As the others have said local oestrogen is often needs in addition to systemic HRT. I started with the pessaries, then went on to HRT patches and stopped the local oestrogen, and then went back onto it as well and have been on this regime for quite a few years - now in my 60's.

Thanks Hurdity

Been on Femseven conti for 13 days now. About 2 days ago I had  pain free sex for the first time in about 9 months ! Hoping this isn't a fluke....hope HRT is working it's magic. Fingers crossed

In answer to your question it's been 15 months since my last period.
