Nope. I used to, but hubby & I were only ones to eat it & sickened ourselves,  so this year I've cheated and bought a slab one.

In the summer CLKD  :o !!!! I would be eating strawberries with my wine!!

I have made one every year for many many years but we are going away over Christmas this year and no-one ever eats it anyway, the offspring/partners are only now there over Christmas itself, so I was thinking I wouldn't make one this year - for the first time!!! I normally make it the last weekend in November and it starts to get me into the Christmas spirit with Advent approaching. I might just make another type of cake for before Christmas as we are away for a week and mostly before Christmas. Any ideas for something delicious that will keep for a week or two but not as heavy as a Christmas cake?

How about a Dundee cake. Still fruity but not quite so heavy.

I've just bought the ingredients for mine - will be making it in the next few days.  I use the same rich Dundee recipe that my dad always made.  Been eating the same recipe, decorated in the same way for decades now!

I usually leave making mine till the last minute. I make 3, one for DH, one dairy egg free one for DD and one for my parents. I can't eat them, but enjoy making them. Made one yesterday and hope to make 2 tomorrow. I will also sign Christmas cards and wrap presents this coming week. I sound so organised don't I ? Feeling smug, particularly as the house is very clean. There's nothing like a deadline. Having an op on the 30th November, so I won't be able to do much for a bit.

Bought a luxury fully iced one infused with cognac. It was £6.49 from Aldi and they always get excellent score in taste tests.

I certainly couldn't make one for that.  I made my own for donkeys years and then one year hubby won a M and S one in a raffle.  Everybody who tasted it said it was delicious and I had to own up it was a bought one!  After that I thought "what's the point?"   ;)

We always have stollen on Christmas eve.

Made one yesterday and hope to make 2 tomorrow. I will also sign Christmas cards and wrap presents this coming week.

Don't rub it in - I haven't even bought all of my presents yet!

Hope the op goes well.
