That's a very sensible thought. I lived for years in a holiday town....loads of summer visitors. It was only because we were very familiar with the area before we moved there that we made a sensible decision. Parking was a big issue, being within walking distance because of parking. Being away from the busiest parts was very important.
Holiday towns are great...,vibrant with lots going on but if you can't get anywhere near your house is not ideal.
Good luck with your search....oh and ignore what estate agents tell you, it's generally rubbish....I know I worked for house builders and estate agents for many years
