Femosten query

Hi ladies
I have just started Femosten 1/10, can anyone tell me at what stage to expect a bleed? My periods have been all over the place and GP hopes that this will help calm things down a bit ( nine full on periods in three and half months...). We are both pretty certain I am menopausal and I have certainly been peri for some time.
Also what are your experiences of the above, I am on day three, and feeling pretty miserable at the moment. Just wondered and keeping fingers crossed to be back to myself pretty quickly and would appreciate to hear some of your experiences. Positive ones if possible as I need a bit of a pick up at the moment and not sure if I could face having the drugs make me feel worse. Although I appreciate that is possible. Just weepy grumpy and irrational at the moment .

Hi Shelby

I've no experience of Femoston but usually with HRT a bleed can be expected towards the end of the second phase of tablets (ie the combined progestogen and oestrogen ones) or just after you go back to the oestrogen only ones. However sometimes if your cycle is erratic it can override this so bleeding or spotting may occur at other times. Let's hope in your case that bleeding is better controlled!  It's not a drug, just replacing your own hormones. Hopefully you will feel the benefits of the added oestrogen soon  :) . I use patch oestrogen and would not want to go back to the way I felt before ( 8 years ago)!

Hi Shelby,
I use Femoston but the stronger version - 2/10, for over a year now. It takes time to kick in, but I feel very well on it now. No sweats, anxiety gone, sleep improved, better energy and mood. Usually bleeding starts at the beginning of a new pack but I have had bleeds at various other times, not to worry as my doctor said. Right now my bleeds come every 35-40 days, and I have some skipped months ( no bleed at all). For me, bleeds can vary - normal to strong, and very light sometimes, almost nothing . Hurdity explais better how your own hormones can override the HRT.
It took me 3-4 months to get better so give it some time. It is definitely early days for you!
Fingers crossed!

Usually 3 days after the last pill containing progestogen, but it can go a bit haywire with your own hormones sometimes, and if you do not take the pills at the same time every day or take one very late, it can go awry.
