Hopefully you wont get too many side effects from the chemo. The nausea is always talked about but you will be given anti sickness medication to help counteract that. It's important to rest as much as possible and to keep away from bugs too. Will you be able to stay off work during this time? At least it will be spring and better weather by the time it's finished. It's also good that you can have hormone treatment.

Why did the Oncologist suggest chemo.  :-\ ……… I had precautionary radiation to swamp any cells that might have been let lose during 2 lots of surgery.  Followed by Tamoxifin.

What stage was your cancer CLKD? Blossom's is Stage 2 which often needs both approaches following a mastectomy.

To be honest I can't remember  ::) ……. I always said that I wouldn't have chemo due to awful side effects  :-\, that Tamoxifen was bad enough  :-\

There are cold caps which can stop hair loss Blossom - your Support Nurse or Oncologist should have suggested that to you.

The cold caps are certainly worth trying although they do lengthen each session. Worth a go though.

I have been offered cold cap and going to try it or at least give it a go. My oncologist strongly recommend the chemo as it increased the chances of it returning in my favour. For the sake of six months I'm willing to take it on.

I've had a lot of pain and plenty of bad side effects last two years. This is going to be much the same I'm used to it

I will be working I live on my own bills have to be paid

I think that you are entitled to sick pay etc. Blossom. My friend got a lot of help from CAB - they sorted out stuff for her. She had the whole of the eight months off. You may find that as the chemo goes on you will not be able to work for some of the time due to the extreme fatigue. Find out as much as you can re what you are entitled to as nobody will come looking for you to hand it over!http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/cancers-in-general/treatment/chemotherapy/living/everyday-life-during-chemotherapy

You may find that you are unable to continue working  :-\ ………. there will be days when you are tired and others when you are in treatment …….. followed by the need to sleep.  I think you need to talk to the Breast Care Nurse or Macmillan about what to expect ………

That's true but I'm going to carry on as normal as best I can. Maybe naive on my part but I will soon find out

Not naïve at all - it's good to stay positive. (Though it would be sensible to have contingency plans available for tough days)  I know a couple of people who have breezed through their treatment so well that no one has even known they were having it!  And others who have only felt slightly unwell.  So it doesn't automatically mean a terrible ordeal - like anything, different people have different reactions to the same process.

It sounds lovely!  You really needed a good break - sounds as if you have had one.

Hi Blossom, hope things are going well for you.  Anastasia was interviewed on Radio 5 Live this afternoon.  I didn't get to listen but will do so on playback or whatever it is called.  I know you said what an inspiring lady she is having gone through two bouts of breast cancer and also copes with a heart complaint.  Thought I'd let you know in case you missed it and wanted to listen.
