As the title says , I'm shocked after 2 1/2 of not having a period then to find me having one. Wtf ?
Ive had sore boobs for two weeks prior and yes a bit snappy  then Friday morning there it was. I'm on day 4 now. Cramps too.
I went to see the practice nurse Friday who gave me a smear and she had a look and she said it all looks ok up there !
Anyway I've discovered that that's an urgent referral to the gynae. Made me very nervous until I started reading this forum and found loads of ladies with the same problem.
This is my first foray with anything gynae.
I'm a gay woman with no children.  Btw, the bloody smear hurt like hell !
Thanks to everyone on here who takes the time to post. You have made me feel more relaxed about the whole bloody thing !

   is this 2 and a half months without or 2 and a half years?  If the latter it is usual practice to refer a lady for a thorough gynae check-up often within 2 weeks.  Let us know how you get on!

Was this your first smear? can be difficult and un-comfortable …… now you've to wait for the result but if Nursy says it's OK 'up there' ……..

Oh yes , In my excitement of being 'approved ' for this fab forum I forgot to say 2 1/2 years !
Not my first smear, they've all hurt if I remember rightly.
Whether not having children makes a difference I don't know. 
Oh and I'm 54 going on 28

I haven't had children, by choice.  I found a man that didn't want any either and fortunately, we fell in love 

I didn't have problems with smear tests until more recent years when it's been a more uncomfortable procedure.  Perhaps now that my GP has suggested treatment for vaginal atrophy (another joy of menopause: not  ) that exam. might now be less awkward.  Also I think that the 'tools' for the job have changed 

Have a browse round.  Ask away. Usually someone around

Hope your trip to the gynae is ok.
Like CLKD says it's normal to refer women who start bleeding again after periods have stopped, so don't worry too much.

I totally agree with you about smear tests hurting.
Like you, I've not had children, but I ain't gay, and they still hurt!
Nobody ever warned me about vaginal atrophy before I found this site.........

Thanks for the welcomes ! Vaginal atrophy is another new one on me.
Maybe if I stick around I will get more au fait with all the terminology.
It's a right pain on the arse this menopause, thought it would be great having no periods ( more fool me ) but it just opens up this whole new world to learn about !

Got my appointment with gynae Monday and  will post  when I escape !

Just back from appointment with gynae. Internal ultrasound wasn't a problem at all. They've found small fibroids and a polyp.  Slight thickening of the womb lining too , 8mm.
Will be having a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic within 2 wks. 
Bit scary , just trying to get my head around it.

Glad the appointment went ok and that you haven't got long to wait for your hysteroscopy. Quite a few members on here have had that done so I'm sure they'll be along soon to reassure you or you can do a search using the button in the blue bar top left of the screen to bring up any old posts.
