Hi Everyone
« on: June 07, 2015, 08:38:06 AM »

Well, how glad am I that I've found this forum?  :)

I'm hoping I can offer some support to others who are maybe going through some of the things I've gone through & also hoping for some support & information on things I've yet to experience.

I'm 51 & now realise I've been in peri for around 8 years. I say now realise because I had no idea until around 18 months ago that the myriad of health problems I was experiencing were menopause related. And I consider myself a reasonably educated & intelligent woman. I can't believe that the health professionals I'd seen with various issues hadn't looked at menopause as a possible reason.

It took a visit to an STI clinic last year following the devastating discovery that my husband had been having an affair as well as unsafe sex with other women for me to start my journey of discovery. As I lay on the couch having a herpes swab taken the doctor asked if I was aware I had possibly got Lichen Sclerosus. Cue many hours of Googling & a referral to a specialist (which took 6 long months to happen following a series of mix ups). Fast forward to now & I've learnt an awful lot. Having dealt with my many & varied symptoms alone with only the help of Google & over the counter remedies I finally consulted a sympathetic female GP last week & demanded some help. Anti depressants were the first thing offered to me but as I'd been on & off them for years I declined & insisted on HRT. I'm now on Elleste Duet 1mg & hoping for some relief.

I look forward to getting to know you all & sharing this life changing journey  :)

Hi  :welcomemm:

My first hrt was Estelle duet 1mg and I did very well on it for 4/5years So hopefully you will have the same results. Have a good read round and ask any questions you want, nothing is taboo here ;)
You might have already learnt that one size doesnt fit all and generally you should try to stick to any new hrt for three months to give it a fair chance to work. Good luck.

Hi Emmy

Welcome to this forum and well done for staying so strong through the events of your life.......I too have to visits the GU clinic last year after my second husband's antics. It was clear he had an affair and I have now left him for a much happier life since.

Ask away at anything we can help with

Hi Emmy

What an awful experience you have gone through!

I am a new member and also started with peri 8 years ago, although just started on my journey of feeling better and getting my life back day 2 with the help of Elleste duet Conti 2mg. It will be great to share our experiences going forward.

How are you finding the Elleste duet so far?

I wish you well x

Thank you all so much for the lovely welcomes  :)

CLKD I did a lot of the  :beat: & an awful lot of  :cuss: but he's still here & we're kind of moving on. He'd better be careful though because my old pre meno self would have booted him out without a second thought. My current self is anxious & lacks confidence but should that change....

LadyT I'm finding the Elleste Duet is suiting me quite well, so far anyway. Very little in the way of side effects & I do seem to be sleeping better & having fewer hot flushes. My anxiety levels are still really high but I have detected a slight decrease in the lengths of the panic attack type episodes I'm having. I've still very much had a 'cycle' of sorts though even without the bleeding so it will take a few months to accurately assess things I guess. My biggest shock came when I had my blood pressure taken at the docs & it was 164/99! I've always been a 110/60 kind of woman even during pregnancy so that was a bit scary! I was very anxious at the time though.  How are you finding it?

Buy yourself a BP monitor from Boots …… my DH has White Coat Syndrome and a calmer guy you won't meet anywhere  ;) - at home his BP is normal.  He takes it half an hour after getting out of bed (I was going to say rising  :-X) and before eating.  In the Surgery it's sky high  ::).

If your husband isn't an habitual man who plays away then maybe there is a Life worth salvaging.  All those years should not be thrown out immediately but maybe new boundaries applied!  Some men of a 'certain age' and all that  ;).

As long as he is 'clean' then you can probably lay down some ground rules.

Anxieity is a common thread here. blasted HORMONES  >:(
