Dud Patches?
« on: May 14, 2015, 11:16:25 AM »

Have been using Estradot 25mg patches for 5 weeks, and they' stick on very well. Once pressed to your skin they sort of go transparent so you can barely see them.

Anyway, I have decided to wear 2 patches until I see my GP next week for a script for 50mg patches. Have just gone to put a patch on, and even though I put it on carefully and gently pressed it down and smoothed it (as I have done with every other patch) one half of the patch didn't go transparent. It stayed opaque and seemed like it wasn't sticking down properly.

I peeled it off and the patch didn't seem very sticky at all (usually they are). So I tried with another patch and exactly the same thing happened. Frustrated now. Tried with a third patch and was normal and has stuck fine.

Really annoyed though, as those two dud patches are wasted and I have paid for them. Plus I am going to be a patch short now and will only be able to put a new patch on on Sunday rather than two. And I don't have a GP appointment until Tuesday morning  >:(

Anyone else had this was patches?

I've never had a problem with Estradot patches and I've been using them for over 8 years - but that's not to say there could be problems! Have you ensured your skin is clean and dry and you haven't used any shower or bath products that could affect your skin eg a shower cream or something that leaves a coating on the skin?

Don't you have the patches on repeat prescription?

Hi Hurdity

I had a shower this morning, and thinking about it I 'might' have wipe the residue body cream on my hands off onto my abdomen, where I tried to apply the patches? I avoid putting body cream on my abdomen now because of the patches, but I just wasn't thinking this morning. Damn!

I applied the third patch much lower down, not near where I'd wiped my hands earlier. That's why it stuck fine, I bet. How annoying.

I do have my patches on a repeat script, but I didn't want to get another box of 25mg when I'm seeing my GP on Tuesday for a box of 50mg patches (hopefully). Still I suppose I can still use them and double up.

But, can I ask while you're here (so to speak). My mood really started to dip Tuesday evening and barely slept that night thanks to nasty anxiety surges keep waking me up. In desperation I stuck another 25mg patch on at Wednesday lunch and by Wednesday tea time was starting to feel better and slept well last night. Woke this morning feeling fine again.

To me this proves that I need 50mg of oestrogen surely? My consultant (who I saw Tuesday) said 25mg was too low and she wanted me on a 50mg patch, but then neglected to give me a script before shoeing me out the door.
