SUPER anxious after cystoscopy
« on: May 09, 2015, 02:28:39 PM »

Hi everyone,

I just had the cystoscopy on Tuesday, 4 days ago. My doctor put me on an antibiotic to prevent infection. All was going fine until I noticed beige floaty tissue things in my urine! :o I freaked out and called him and the nurse asked him and he said that can happen sometimes after the cystoscopy and it is just called sediment. I guess from when he inserted the scope it scratched the urethra and that can be shedding now as it heals.

Well I am freaking out now thinking he did something wrong in there and damaged my bladder. :( I never used to overreact this way to anything - my anxiety became severe the deeper I went into menopause. I probably need HRT but I do take the Vagifem twice a week but I think I need a pill or patch form of HRT. I am even afraid to take that though. :(

Has anyone else had this 'sediment' after an in office cystoscopy?

Thank You. :)

It's not usual for you but your GP seems certain it's not going to be a problem.  There is a very thin lining there and if it's touched the body will shed it.

Follow the instructions regarding fluid intake etc. and see how you are on Monday.  In the meantime have a browse, menus, top of screen.  Is the Vagifem helping?

I've not had a cystocopy but when I had my last section my dr was worried as my bladder touched my womb which had taken a lot of repairing so I was given a catheter. I asked if the bladder was damaged would I know she said definitely as if urine leaked into abdomen it would be extremely painful. What I'm trying to say I think you would know if damage had occurred.

When I had my first child the surgeon made a bit of a mess and cut my bladder. It did heal well over a few weeks and as far as I know has never done any lasting damage.

Try not to worry. If the doc says it's not unusual then it will be fine.

Thank You! I will follow instructions and I am drinking water like crazy, lol  8)

The Vagifem has helped a lot except I get hot flashes from it. I never had a hot flash until I began using it. I had the night sweats for years but recently they went away and were replaced with the hot flashes. Ahhh the joys of lack of estrogen.  :P

Take care. :)

Thank you Sarai - yes I sure would know wouldn't I? I need to be more logical but my mind is being anxiously illogical due to lack of estrogen. Boy the anxiety can be brutal. :(

I appreciate your reply. :)
