Bleed on Utrogestan
« on: April 25, 2015, 09:29:33 AM »

Just started my bleed this morning 3 days after finishing the Utro. For the last year or more, my own natural bleeds have only lasted 3 days maximum and have been very light. Is this bleed likely to last longer (it already seems heavier than normal).

Also, I had a tiny bit of brown spotting yesterday. Do I count that as day one of my cycle, or today which is a proper bleed?

I'm just trying to look ahead to next month, to see if my bleed will have finished by the time we go on holiday.

Hi GypsyRoseLee

Just keep counting the days without changing them ie you don't change Day 1 depending on when you get your bleed - that's just for when you first start. So the Utro is stopped on Day 26, and you're back on the oestrogen only for Days 27 and 28, and then continue for Days 1 - 14. the bleed can come at different times for different women and especially when you are peri and if your own cycle comes through strongly sometimes.

Re going on holiday - a few days here or there won't make any difference in terms of your womb lining so you could delay it if it will affect your holiday. However if you are peri-menopausal then your body may well decide for you when to bleed as your own cycle might come through anyway, irrespective of when you take the HRT! You may also go out of sync with your own cycle in future as a result too (although you could try to re sync it I'm sure). After being on a long cycle (since being well post-meno) I have all my Utro times planned for the year so I am neither taking Utro (vaginally) nor bleeding when I am on hol or at a festival!

Thanks Hurdity. I didn't realise that. I thought day one would always be the first day of my bleed.

I was already on day 13 of my natural cycle when I first put my patch on. Because of that my GP told me to still start the Utro on day 15, so only 2 days after I started wearing my patch!

I took my last Utro on Tuesday night so Wednesday was day 27 and Thurs was day 28, is that right?

So actually yesterday was day one, right, even though my bleed didn't start until today.

Soooooo, today is day 2? That's good actually. If the same happens next month and my bleed comes again on the 4th day after finishing Utro, then my bleed should be well over before we go on holiday.
