I guess it depends on which part of England your daughter lives too as to the difference in prices CG? I'm not sure whether we are in an expensive area - starter homes (tiny lounge with spiral staircase off it, galley kitchen, bedroom and bathroom) go for around £130,000 and two bedroomed terrace can be £200,000. My sons don't have a hope of getting on the housing ladder at the moment.

Notts Taz.  House prices there are about £150,000 for 3 bedroom terrace. Equivalent here is nearer £250,000.  Bound to be more expensive areas in England.  One postal code up here is unbelievable price wise. Of course it's the oil pushing up prices here. But with the downturn, prices will no doubt be affected.

The coast always costs more. The area I am in has always had silly prices although they have been pegged back a bit. 12 miles down the coast has one of the worse records of unemployment and poverty. It's a very mixed county, big money and no money at all.

I agree about the 20 year old student. What on earth is she going to bring to somewhere like Paisley.....unemployment and poverty again.
I have a very bright 20 year old daughter......who is still very young in many ways and could contribute nothing to a job like that.
To be honest I think Basil Brush could have stood for the SNP.....and won  :o

Yes. I think it's all a result of Nicola's outstanding contribution to the TV debates.  She's a very talented person and she convinced most of Scotland.  As you say, Prajna, it's the SNP ticket that seems to have turned the tide.

However, she's trying to put her views forwards and starting to tell 'us' down here what she expects!  >:( … better to keep her Big G shut and quietly infiltrate her ideas once the media dust settles.

It depends down here what 1 pays for housing.  The WORST thing the Government of the Day was to allow tenants to buy their Council Houses  :bang: :bang: :bang: …….. leaving a huge gap for youngsters now unable to buy.  DH and I grew up in Council housing until Dad had enough to put down on a deposit and had his own property built in the 1960s.  When we eventually moved locals were able to have the Council house.

DH's parents never moved from Council accommodation.  When his bro wanted to buy their property I put my foot down with a very firm hand and said 'no', remember what Council houses are for!!!

Before you know where you are CLKD she will have Trident shipped south of the border.

She is not a lady to be messed with, that's why I think she is scary.
Mind you I think she will have trouble controlling Salmond. I predict fireworks

She'll have to get the votes down here first - and I have no problem with Tridant  ;)

Interesting times ahead, history in the making  :o  ;D

And that's another thing.....................
If Elle Sturgeon and the SNP do declare UDI for Scotland
Will passports be required for Scots to come south of the border?
It all seems a bit daft.

Also, would the UK still be part of the EEC?
It wouldn't be the UK. Legally, surely it must be a different thing.

The UK Government will not sanction another referendum in the next five years anyway.
So no passports will be required.

Salmond and his bunch of numpties told the 16 yr olds that voted it was a once in a lifetime opportunity .....so.....maybe in 60 years or so.

I will be long gone by that time which is probably a good thing as I hate bubble wrap  ::)

Until the UK as it stands has a Referendum to stay in or come out of Europe, we remain 'in'.  Scotland remains part of the UK so they will be included in a vote.  I really can't make up my mind about that at all.

I think vote up here was a protest. However, let's see how things pan out over the coming months/years.

I signed petition for PR. Let's hope one day it comes into being & that we are better represented.

i find what we have now all quite scary - can't see that there will ever be a change in our constituency now due to boundary changes before 2010 and sometimes you need a change.

My husband keeps saying Putin is watching us re Scotland.

Think you're right CG - PR would be so much fairer.
