Ladies please may I pick your brains.

I've been using Evorel Conti patches for about 2 and a half years with no problems at all, I've enjoyed not having bleeds / periods. For the last 2 weeks I've been getting draggy type aches in my lower abdomen.
Should I be considering sequi HRT to try and clear things out?

Background - I'me 57, my last bleed was when I turned 54, it wasn't a period it was a withdrawal bleed from stopping the pill. I started Evorel when I was 54 and 6 months.

Any advice or comments would be most welcome.

I sometimes get random cramping too. I've never had a breakthrough bleed though and I've been using the same as you for about the same time. It's came and went. I'm just on half a patch though which might have something to do with it. I did change from a conti to a sequi regime a few years ago. I was using Utrogestan and the period I had was horrendous. Not so much heavy but so very painful. After a couple of months of that I was glad to return to a conti regime.

Perhaps ask your GP for a scan to check the thickness of your womb lining.

Hope you get it sorted out.

I'm really not missing periods at all.
I've got an appointment to see my GP in a week or so. May mention it then, I just hope she doesn't suggest stopping HRT!

The strange is that I used to get these cramping sensations while on HRT and now that I've had a hysterectomy I still get the same feelings! Doc feels that it must be bowel cramps and not uterine ones after all! Best to tell the doc though Limpy. It's difficult to tell whats causing pain sometimes.  Mine were put down to the development of fibroids since starting HRT but, obviously, it wasn't that at all

Gosh, it's sobering to think that the docs didn't know what was causing your pain. Or rather, they "did" but got it wrong. Of course, they wouldn't look any further, no need.........

Sometimes with IBS, and backache I find it difficult to figure out what's hurting.

Makes me sound as if I'm falling to bits  .....well I probably am.

Me too!! pain and b leeding bad, feel rubbish. Have been for a scan and they have discovered a polyp in my womb causing the bleeding, having an endometrial ablasion and biopsy in two weeks, and a discussion on whether to continue with HRT. Might be worth a scan??

this could have happened whether you were on HRT or just another one of the joys of "nature".

They can also see on the polyp if its related to the HRT when they do the biopsy.

Depends on whether they look properly and tell you the truth.

Remember its your choice if you want to continue not theirs (just like its your choice to go and get these tests done).

Taz, did they give you anything for the bowel cramps?  Was the problem ever sorted out?

It's still quite early on really as I had my hysterectomy plus bladder repair last July. It's taken a while for everything to settle down. I've seen the consultant gynae again and was reluctantly referred to the pelvic floor specialist nurse by him who feels that it is bowel related. I haven't yet gone back to my GP. I'm wondering about adhesions as my bowel hasn't been right since the op. I realise that lots of women do have problems like this after hysterectomy as the bowel can drop into the space left by the uterus and takes a while to get comfy. I have been taking Buscopan for the cramps and this does seem to work quite well. I've always had IBS but not with pain so it's all a bit puzzling. I am not sure whether the bladder might be involved somewhere too!

Oh dear Taz, sounds as if you deal with one problem only for another to pop up.

I have a prolapsed bladder and bowel but I'm ignoring them for the time being.

I'll see what GP says when I get an audience with her next week.
Just hope she doesn't suggest stopping HRT. Hopefully not, she's aware of this forum and thinks it's good. Hope that bodes well.
