Really wish I had an answer to it. Afternoons are always better so I tend not to commit to much in the morning....except for going to mothers. I have 25 minute drive there and generally I'm fine. Mind over matter....well mind over bowels  ::)

Lack of estrogen can affect our bowels too.

Not sure if your doc is seeing that connection.
A lot don't seem to.

Hi Kathleen,

I have just read your post about heart and bowels, I too suffer with anxiety and find that it always affects my bowels and stomach, I seem to get very nauseous with it too, and tend to associate  panics with feeling sick! Whenever I have a virus and feel sick, I get myself into a real state, and think I am going to start being anxious again, so it's really, a vicious circle.
When I first went into peri, my main symptom was nausea, and also 'the runs',  I don't worry about my heart though , even though it races a lot of the time.

Since my son died, almost a year ago, I have had the panics again and the nausea, but don't know if that's the grief, or hormones???  It really is difficult to know what is causing what. I do sympathize with you all who suffer with anxiety/panic, as it really is the most horrendous feeling,  and anyone who hasn't been through it, simply can't comprehend how scary it feels.

Wishing you all well,
Magsxxx

Hello ladies.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply, as always it's a comfort to know that these problems are part of the menopause and how else would we know that if it weren't for this wonderful site?

I understand only too well the vicious cycle that anxiety can cause and how difficult that can be to break. I think all we can do is keep an open mind about treatments/therapies and try and support ourselves and each other through this confusing time.

Thanks again ladies, your comments mean a lot and special hugs to you mags, thinking of you.

Take care.

K.

Thanks to Kathleen and CLKD, I am taking sertraline for the anxiety issues, which I was already on before James died, and I think it does help by taking the edge off things, I am very lucky in having some very good friends and neighbours who have really been there for me, and offered a lot of support, my hubby and I also attend a support group for people in our position (Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide), a lot of the others who attend the meetings say that they too suffer with anxiety and panic due to the shock of everything. I still think that part of my anxiety is hormonal, which is why I could relate to Kathleen's post.  Thanks to you all for your kind replies,
Love and Hugs,
