Hot flushes in Winter
« on: February 14, 2015, 09:50:16 AM »

What are people's experiences of these?

Although my hrt has stopped about  half of the flushes I still do get some hot flushes in Winter.

I don't know about anyone else, but for me, you'd think winter is easier, however, you still get cold even amidst the hot flushes.
I used to use a fan for bed, but the cool air got too cold for me in Winter, even though I was boiling hot when I woke up.
I have the window open, and have found, on really cold nights, I get up and close it as it's too cold, yet, at the same time, too hot.
I think the problem is being in a hot body in a cold room, the two don't mix.
I'm happier than I was this time last year, as the hrt I was on did absolutely nothing, apart from regulate my periods.

When I first started peri meno it was summer so I just thought it was extra hot! (In Scotland, should have known something was wrong lol)I was looking forward to winter to be cooler but that hasn't happened. That's 2 winters past and usually freezing to the bone but since peri meno I've not felt cold. I think my body thermostat gauge has been altered to higher setting. Everyone in my house was wrapped up and I'm in shorts and t shirt at night flinging covers over hubby! I'm not complaining it's quite comfortable for me, I'm a skinny Minnie and it feels good not to be piling the layers on summer and winter.

I'm finding it really hard as I'm cold whenever I'm not having a hot flush.  I do a physical job (gardening and dog walking) so I'm outside in very cold weather in winter and I find sometimes the rest of me can be freezing and my head, neck and shoulders are boiling.  And at night, if I go to bed under the duvet, I start to burn up, but if I leave my arms out, I wake up with the cold... I only twigged to what was causing this a few weeks ago, but I remember thinking last summer that I seemed to be 'feeling the heat' more than usual and seemed to be a 'bit feverish' sometimes, so I guess I had started then but wasn't aware of it.  Don't remember it being a problem though - as Stellajane says, it seems more natural to be hot in summer!

I'm thinking of making myself some 'arm warmers' to wear with ski trousers.  That plus a t-shirt and I should be sorted!  You could even see it on the catwalks next year...or maybe not.  ;D
