How long does it last?
« on: January 29, 2015, 02:08:14 PM »

Hi

Been a little while since I last wrote and wondered if anyone can tell me how long the symptoms of menopause can last as have had mine for 10 years now. I have breast family history and cant have HRT and have tried everything else believe me but have just about every symptom from hot flushes, insomnia, mood swings, lack of sex drive etc and at times driving me mad and everyone else though am single but with a partner nearby who is finding it hard to understand me!!  I am also a carer for the elderly which can be quite demanding and with all this going on too is not easy.  Anyway if anyone out there has any ideas love to hear. Thanks

It can last for ages and ages and  ::)

Have you recently spoken to a Consultant regarding HRT and breast disease?  Read the menus, left of screen too and make notes.  I had breast disease but would demand quality of Life regardless.  My Mum had mastectomy at aged 65 but her cancer was different to mine.

If alternative methods worked they would be available on the NHS  ;)

Have you tried Clonidine for the hot flushes? There is non-HRT stuff you can try.
