What Anxiety Symptons do you get?
« on: January 18, 2015, 05:36:35 PM »

Hi

Although Im controlling it more, its still horrible, for me its:-

tight chest
palpatations
panic attacks
shaking usually when coming out of a panic attack
feeling sick
feel like rushing to the loo
health anxiety, ie I actually think Im going to have a heart attack and die (seeing a cardiologist and having tests will hopefully help this)
chest pain, sometimes stabbing in in one breat, sometimes underneath, sometimes above breasts in the centre
pain down arm (usually one arm)
feeling of an adrenaline surge coming on

What helps is breathing from the diaphragm, bachs resue remedy, lavender on inside of my wrists or a tissue or something just inhaling it is very calming, Im also taking Starflower Oil.

I also found hrt supressed it

I used to get all of the above 24/7, even on HRT. It is much better now (off HRT but I am not sure that that is the reason. I think I just outgrowed it after 3-4 years!). I have background anxiety now which stops me doing lots of things. Not helped by living on my own and no family. Currently trying to walk it off!

Wow, that pretty much covers me as well although I can get suddenly weepy for no reason which is really annoying. I do the breathing, lavender (or Origins Peace of Mind lotion is good too) or just tell myself that it's my hormones and it will pass (that's a tough one, esp if you can't get somewhere quiet). The best thing I've found if I'm feeling that way is just to say so - at work, I'll say "I'm not feeling well, I need a moment." - I've walked out of meetings or gone outside in the stairwell before now. Put yourself first. If anyone is funny about it, you should be able to go confidentially to HR. At home, I'm just straight up to my husband and friends - say I'm feeling weird or anxious and sometimes I need to be talked through it or just left alone. If I'm out, I either try and and somewhere quiet or use my eyes and breathe deeply - don't worry what anyone thinks! I try and tell myself this is just something my body is doing and I will get through it. I can still be a shaky, weepy mess but that's OK.

Meant close my eyes in that last one. Bramble is right, walking is good as is any exercise. Walking is free though!

Feelings of incompetence, self-doubt, apathy and tearfulness just before doing something that I know I can do.

Hello Karenja.

When I saw the question you posted my first thought was "How Long Have You Got ? " I have been amazed at the effects reducing female hormones has had on me both physically and mentally and it's not over yet.
The list is long but ever changing so I cling to the belief that one day this will all settle and I'll know myself again.

Some time ago a lady posted to say that for her the emotional turmoil had passed and she reassured us that we would find solid ground again. It was great to hear such news and gave us all hope for the future.

Take care ladies, onwards and upwards!
