I am ordering lots of fruit in my shopping delivery for tomorrow.  Also got pringles left over from Christmas, hard to resist.  Got to lose weight, hoping it will help with my health anxiety and palpitations.

I'm the opposite karenja need to put it on but I prefer fruit and veg. My hubby was overweight last year and wouldn't touch fruit or veg but went on a major health kick and just can't get enough fruit and veg these days also he started running and boy can he run now for miles!
You can do it, it will also help you feel better rather the comfort food go for it! X

that's brilliant Millykin, I had started running before the palpatations which scared me off it, thoughts of collapsing with a heart attack came to mind :( hopefully all will be ok after ecg and I can stop worrying and if Im staying off hrt then I will need to find other ways to deal with symptoms, good for your hubby with his health kick and running x

hi Karenja

I dunno how long you were on hrt for, but this thead http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,26569.0.html is about the possibility of hrt making us worse before better.
Briony, in her post, mentions this and is thankful she persevered for a while.
I have had to persevere also, and it's only now, since moving upto 75mcg that I have seen some improvements and I am still trialling 75mcg, so am not ruling out the possibility of other improvements. The improvements took weeks, rather than days at my current dose to be really appreciated.
Would you consider re starting hrt and persevering?

Hi dandelion my thoughts were to come off as I've tried so many different ones ok I admit I've not given some of them time maybe thougn I did stay on one for three months then had to come off, I don't feel I can go back on the ultrogestan it maybe a give it time sutuation but after having high hopes for that one it was the progesterone I struggled with the most - estradot patches no
Problem at all with these so is there another progestetone anybody can suggest bearing in mind ive tried the one beginning with n and the one in femseven - having had anxiety in the night first time it's been bad in a while - I'm going to go wednesdày so if anybody can suggest another progesterone then I'd maybe give it another go x

Utrogestan is the kindest of the progesterones and I'm not convinced it was the Utrogestan that was causing your problems as you had a virus at the time.
I don't know if you have bad flushes and night sweats but I think your are wise to give yourself a break from everything and allow your body to recover from the virus.
If anxiety is your main symptom then, if this persists, perhaps ask for some CBT and possibly try an SSRI (like Citalopram) again but this time ask for something to take that will cover the negative side effects in the first couple of weeks until the benefits kick in.
If your are getting flushes and night sweats - have your tried Femoston HRT (look under HRT Preparations) as this has a progesterone that is tolerated well by many women. If you are post menopausal then I would stick to sequential HRT if I were you.
I think you will start to feel better once you're given the all clear about your heart. Give yourself a few weeks with a good diet plus Vit D, Omega 3 and brisk walks and see how you feel.  DG x

Hello karenja.

So sorry that you are struggling, this hormone business is a minefield for some of us.

I can't add to the advice given by the other ladies but I do know what it is like to be desperate for relief and frustrated that nothing seems to be working.

Take care and sending hugs.

Hi well I went for a walk this morning and whilst im sure it was doing me good I felt v light headed towards the end and had to have food, im getting this fainty feeling a lot, I think today this was mainly due to the fact Id had a cup of tea and biscuit at half six, then porridge at 9.00 only ate bit of that as I dried it up too much, then by half eleven felt awful, saying that on a work day I have cereal around 7am, then throughout the morning eat bananas, tangerines, chocolate (ok not so good) and mini chedders and still feel fainty lunchtime and after work, so not sure whats going on there will mention this to the doctor also x

Havent tried Femston but haven't had a natural period since Dec 2013, only the one brought on in June 2014 by coming off hrt too soon x

definitely going to look into cbt, and was on hrt for flushes, bad night sweats and it did help my anxiety, the cardiologist advised me against anti depressants and I wasn't that keen to take them anyway after a bad experience with Citalopram, though I know a lot of ladies have found them very helpful x

I went for a walk too, I took a flask of soup with me for afterwards.  Did have palpitations at one point, but had just walked up a hill.  The funny thing is my shoulders ache and not my legs :)

Hi Karenja

I just want to add my voice to Dancinggirl's - I have been taking Vit D3 since I had a blood test which showed my levels as low (but not deficient).  I feel so much better.  Vitamin D is important in the thyroid pathways, as well as for bones and joints.  It started to change after 6 weeks.

I'm not really into taking supplements and prefer to do things from diet.  I am now taking D3, omega 3 and multivitamin, as well as all the fruit and veg.  I stopped taking the D3 over Christmas and the pains in the back of my neck came back, so I have gone back to it.

HRT has helped me too, but it seems a good idea to optimise everything else with your health to make the best of it.

dahliagirl - my experience is very similar to yours - this is why I continue with the supplement regime I'm on. I am a life vegetarian (includes dairy and eggs) and eat lots of vegetables and legumes etc. - in fact I have such a high fibre diet I have to make sure I eat eggs regularly - well to put it simply, constipation is simply not in my vocabulary! I started Vitamin D after hearing the recommendation from 2 GPs who attended my dance class.

I think you are interpreting your "fainty feeling" or light headedness as low blood sugar when in fact you could simply be dehydrated. Tea and coffee can make you more dehydrated so perhaps having a bottle of water with you and having regular small sips would be better.  All these snacks between meals is really not good - no wonder you are putting on weight. You are also eating high sugar foods and these will give you the extreme highs and lows - you get a fast high after eating as the sugar kicks in but then the blood sugar will drop quickly and you then feel low quite quickly afterwards.
You can certainly start your day with a cup of tea to get you going but try having a boiled or scrabbled egg for breakfast alongside your porridge and have about 200ml of water with a multi vitamin (Menopace is actually good because it has a good dose of Vitman D in it) plus an Omega 3 capsule - this will keep you going far longer.  Then have a small packet of nuts or sunflower seeds as a snack if need be.
As for feeling dizzy after your walk - well that's to be expected as you will need to build things up gradually - your body is simply not used to doing exercise.  The more you do the easier it will get.
During my brisk walks with the dog each day, when I start to feel myself flagging I actually push myself to walk a bit faster and harder to really build up a bit of a sweat - when I get home and relax with a glass of water or a hot herbal tea I feel really good. Incidentally, I've just hoovered round the house - this is great exercise.

I'd give yourself at least 3-4 weeks of trying the good routine before attempting any more HRT. If you haven't tried Femoston then I would certainly consider this but take the sequential version which will give you a withdrawal bleed as there will be a couple of weeks of just oestrogen and then the combined oestrogen and progesterone phase and you can then tell how you are feeling on both sections.  The progesterone in Femoston seems to suit many women and some women even report that they feel better when on the combined section than on the oestrogen only part!!!!!.  It comes in 2 strengths as well so you could try the lower dose to start with and go on to the bigger dose if you feel you need it.
Good luck  Dg x

You feel 'faint' because you haven't eaten correctly  :( ………. do you need to sit/lay down when out walking, I used to fall right over  ::) ………… eating every 3 hours - bananas, fruits, nuts, chocolate, mini Cheddars - it's OK to eat what you fancy as your body will burn it off whilst exercising  ::) -  I carry Dextrose tablets when walking any distance.
