On some of the smaller ferries you don't even need to get out of the car. You could sit in the back of the camper and pretend you were not even at sea.

Feel better soon

Do it, some of my best holidays have been in the Scottish islands. Take mozzie repellent though!

I've been to Mingulay and a lot of the small islands round there and also Staffa. We went in June for mid summer.

We have a little weekend holiday this weekend at a luxury hotel for a wedding. We can play 'how the other half live'. The staff call everyone 'sir' or 'madam'. I don't really like that being a common pleb. I don't find it friendly knowing someone is being paid to be polite. I will probably get the giggles  ;D

;D 'sir' and 'madam' are OK so long as it doesn't sound patronising  >:(

BJ - It sounds like you've been to the hotel before.
If you don't like the way they do things why go back, will you enjoy it?

I cringe at  "sir" & "madam." Our holiday hotel this year referred to us as Mr or Mrs which was much nicer.

I'd love to go on holiday to Arran, but hubby won't cross the water. I went at age 16 with my mum. One of the best holidays we had together. Boarded at Ardrossan & there in no time.

Why won't he cross the water CG. Its not that far. By the time the ferry has reversed and turned around you are a quarter of the way there.
The only reason we haven't been for more than a day recently is because of mother. I need to be able to travel home without having to rely on a ferry.

You don't have to do the long crossing from Ardrossan, you can sail to Lochranza from The Mull of Kyntyre. That sailing is about twenty minutes and is very sheltered and almost always calm.

There is also a sailing to Campletown from Ardrossan these days....summer months only.

If anyone wants to visit the most perfect Scottish Island then Arran is the place.

Hubby and I were taking pictures of The Sleeping Warrior this morning. Absolutely stunning.

If you look at Arran from the mainland the outline of the island is of a sleeping warrior.
