UTI and bladder problems
« on: January 05, 2015, 06:49:08 AM »

I've never been that prone and think I've probably only had one bout of cystitis and a kidney infecton in my entire life but are UTI's/water infections more common during the perimenopause/menopause?

Unfortunately they are Mary as the vaginal skin can thin and lead to more infections. Products such as Vagifem can help http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/womens-health/medicines/vagifem.html Are you on any type of HRT?

Talk to your Practice Nurse about vaginal atrophy.  I had urine infection symptoms intermittently for 5 years but my GP recognised a pattern.  Treatment helps.

If you are asked to provide a urine sample make sure that it is sent to a Lab. for proper testing!

LIVE yoghurt for thrush Millykin - a lot eaten for 5 days and applied to ease the itchiness down there, keep 2 pots separate of course - 1 in the fridge 1 in the bathroom  ;) - applied on an applicator high up the soothing cool yoghurt can ease symptoms - lay on a warm towel in the bed ;-).

There may be some helpful posts by SuziQ here http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,25964.msg399788.html#msg399788 but if you put Vaginal Atrophy SuziQ into the search box in the blue bar top left of the screen it will bring up more threads where Suzi has contributed.

Nope I did lots of searches - nor are many of the threads showing as 'new' at the top of my screen  :(

I wrote a spiel too, 'My Bladder etc.' I think it's called  ::)
