U C - now that Mum is in care they get C.mas Lunch served to which we are invited.  However  :-X

So DH cooks our main meal on C.mas Eve in Mum's oven.  Pheasant with trimmings.  So we eat it cold the next day, in our car, whilst Mum is having her meal in the warm  ;D.  We do get an invite to join her.  However  ;)

We usually have Boxing Day with his brother/wife for which we provide a hunk of beef and they cook it with their veg..  No one has mentioned that we do the same.  For several years we took my Mum along which made a nice afternoon for her.

Then we travel home after visiting Mum in the home the next day.  She doesn't want us around for long in case someone sits in Her Chair  >:(

When we had 4 years here, at home: we would have a brisk walk after breakkies then C.mas pud with custard.  Evening meal went on in the afternoon ........... same again Boxing Day: brisk walk, cold meal with chips.   We always have pheasant, veggies and a Good Gravy.

New routines take a while but new traditions will grow.

Probably anything better than sitting in a cold car , actually we might take the camper van this year.  With a porta potty and kettle  ;D

I switched the twinkly lights on at the weekend, they hang in the tree outside the lounge all year.  Seems they are on an 8-hour on/off cycle  :-\ ......... can't remember that happening last year  ::)

Done the few cards that I send or hand deliver round the village - although will get sons to do that just before Xmas - doesn't do to be too early! The others will get a charity e-card - never done this before.... Bit early for decorations too but the weather is do awful I didn't fancy Christmas shopping so might put up the odd thing. We leave (gathering and putting up) the greenery until a few days before too otherwise it dries up before the 12 days! For those who don't know - I'm in a rural area! Hope everyone's managing to take their mind off things (and I don't mean the C word!!!!)  ::)

It was a group of Muslims that bought and decorated his tree  :-* and he has been invited out for lunch.  How many people who would like to celebrate feel that they would be 'too much of a bother' or that it's a 'family occasion'  :-\

The lights on the tree outside have failed  >:(  :'( ........... I didn't think that they were 'right' when swtiched on last week and now they have given up the ghost .  Look our Jan Sales  ;D
