Hi

Has anyone got any ideas for a baby girl christmas present please ? - she will be 5 months old then - we have got duplo for her older brother but are really stumped with her.

There are already a lot of 'baby toys' and equipment in the house and my DinLaw swops clothing around with friends so you end up duplicating if you don't ask.

Would quite like to get something that we haven't asked the parents about beforehand - we haven't with the duplo - got a 'special set' that we know he will like and doesn't matter if it adds to what he already has as he can then build more things.

When she was born we gave some money to start a savings account in her name.

Thanks if anyone can come up with something - guess it will be easier as she gets older and wants girls things.

Trying to think what my two GDs got at that age. What about something from the leapfrog range of toys.

I know it's  a bit traditional but when both of my two were young they were given Beatrice Potter dish, plate and cup and egg cup in a lovely set. I still have the cups and bowls to this day. They were great and ended up being used everyday. They had lots of pictures of Peter Rabbit and chums on them and little rhymes which I read them and then they read as they got older....over and over.   

Sometimes the last thing parents want is yet more toys.

I know you can still get the sets as I bought my great niece a set not that long ago.

Just a thought.

In that vain how about a box set of Beatrix Potter books. I remember having one of the books as a young child and loved it. A set would be quite expensive possibly, but you could buy one or two & build it up over a few years.

I bought my daughter an ornamental teddy from the Colourbox range many moons ago. Bought her several more over the coming years. She still has them to this day. Not sure if you can still get them.

I bought a story book entitled 'The Little girl who lost her name' (google it). It is a personalised book about a little girl who goes on a journey to find the letters of her name. Great if it is a longish name but not if she is called Ann! Beautifully illustrated! Cost about £18. You can add a message to the first page.

Thank you for quick replies and such lovely ideas.

I am a bit traditional - having looked at the Beatrix Potter website we are going to get her a boxed set of Jemima Puddleduck crockery from Am***n.

She will need them soon and her brother won't want Jemima ! and as you say we can then buy her the books later on.

The Star and 'letters of a name' book are lovely ideas - i will save them for someone else or another time.

The crockery is lovely. The ones I had were quite heavy, so much more stable for a very young child.
