Last time I had a cystoscopy it was under GA but this time they want to do it under local anaesthetic. The urologist told me it was no more painful than having a smear. Is she right?

I had one a couple of years ago now. I found it painless and really interesting watching what was happening on the screen. For me it was no more uncomfortable than having a catheter inserted - they numb the urethra with gel before starting. I went back to work the next day with no ill effects.

I had one two years ago and it was totally painless for me from beginning to end. The urologist told me that some bladders need alot of water pumped in to spread out the wrinkles ::) and if your one of those it can be uncomfortable but thankfully mine was wrinkle free!   I drank lots of water aferwards to flush out any bugs and it was a bit stingy for 12 hrs after but totally fine by next morning.

I found it more undignified than anythins ;D

I have had one of these recently.

They numb the urethra so no problem really. Very quick and you can see everything on camera if you like!
The antibiotic jab in my thigh was more painful when I tried to get of off the op table - leg went numb! No problem afterwards though :) 15 minute procedure.... Drove straight home afterwards (they do make sure that you have had a pee first though !) ........
