Hi sparkle.
I recently saw Philip Scofield on TV  showing what happened when he had
lazer treatment.   The tests before hand put me off,  he had strips of paper
hanging from his eyes, he said it was very painful.

I had to have my new varifocals adjusted today because the focusing wasn't quite right. The lenses had to be angled slightly.

I was just beginning to adjust to the fit of the new frames and wasn't noticing them as much and now they feel different on my nose and I am aware of them all over again.

Just thought I might feel better for sharing and having a little moan

I have varifocals and it also takes me ages to get used to them if the prescription changes. Last year I decided I would invest in some trendy new frames after having the same ones for over 20 years!!! WHAT A MISTAKE. Plastic frames - look good but feel so heavy and of course red marks on nose. I had my the new prescription put in my old frames with reactolite (?) in the so I could use them in the summer (don't  like using the reactolite all the time as it affects the colour of things and can be a bit slow changing. ). Am seriously considering going back to my old frames despite them looking a bit manky as they were a very lightweight wire frame that are quite big (not Dierdre Barlow big but bigger than is fashionable at the mo!) . They are great, especially for varifocals as they is plenty of room for the different strengths of glass and no red marks x Babyjane - suggest looking for a wire frame and speak to your optician about the weight of the lenses. They may have some other suggestionsx

thanks for your post annieb. I have my new frame with my new prescription and no reactolite and I also have my old trusty frame with my new prescription plus reactolite which I wear when out and about with the dog. It is the new frame with new prescription which is taking some getting used to but I will in the end. I just find that if I share it then I get less obsessed by it  :)

sparkle, every word that comes from your keyboard sounds like something I would have said. It is seriously uncanny  ???

Limpy and purplenanny thank you for your empathy.

I will adjust, I will just be a bit of a pain until I do.  It doesn't help that I have a cataract which means although the prescription is correct I cannot get really good correction. It is most noticeable when I am reading  :(

Keep an eye on the cataract (pardon the pun!). If it gets any worse take yourself off to the optician and get referred to a specialist.  I had cataracts removed from both eyes a few years ago and my eyesight is better now than it was 25 years ago!!! Op it fairly straightforward and recovery very quick.

hi annieb, it is checked at the opticians yearly. Apparently it cannot be referred until it reaches a certain level which is frustrating (for the optician too) as it is a simple procedure if done early on but now it is left longer so is more involved. Rather silly but there it is.

'a painful shoulder'

OMG, you are me!!!!!!!  :o

I went to my lovely chiropractor on Friday and am using ice and heat and shouldn't really be on the keyboard as it aggravates it.

Mine is a very old injury from my days working in a care home for the elderly. there is scar tissue and the muscle goes into spasms.
