My Mum played the Church organ until she left for College at aged 19.

Even though I know anticipation is worse it doesn't stop those awful gut wrenching feelings  - hopefully the day goes well!

Hurdity, that's great that your father played for services.  I do, too, every week and love to accompany the hymns - for me, organ-playing is sort of a form of worship in itself.    These recitals are just every now and then, which is why they're so nerve-wracking! 

Thanks CLKD - I agree about the gut-wrenching feelings!  I had to look past them this evening and make myself eat some food before I played, otherwise, I'd not have had the strength to do it.

But I did it!!  And I'm still alive!!  And they seemed to like it!!   Am now enjoying a large glass of wine and being kissed by hubby, who turned all the pages for me.

Limpy - yes, I did have to play for church yesterday (Sunday).  I was pretty much on automatic pilot the whole time.  Didn't do anything at all in the afternoon, though.........
