Mirena Coil with Vagifem?
« on: July 01, 2014, 10:22:36 AM »

Has anyone else used this? I am still using vagifem but still getting a thickened lining so I have been taking Provera every 3 months to shed the lining and have a bleed.  I have been for a check up today and told my GP that the Provera has a few side effects (nothing to stop me taking them) and she suggested the Merena Coil saying it would stop the thickened lining completely.  My first reaction is one of horror as at the age of 56 I do not want the coil :-\I also had a very bad experience with a copper coil some years ago which made me feel like I was in labour.. terrible pain, it had to be taken out - I am sure this was the start of my interstitial cystitis problems so I would prefer not to have any sort of coil with my bladder issues!  I have never heard of the Mirena coil so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Not taking the Provera and having a bleed is a lovely thought but the idea of a coil when I have so many problems in that area frightens the life out of me. Anything and everything kicks off my interstitial cystitis, food, sex, IBS, bleeding, tablets.. the list goes on and on.. I don't think I could risk it even though I can see the advantages!
