Hi, I recently joined and wanted to share my menopause experiences on the forum.  I'm 54 and have had menopause sympoms for about 18 months, no periods during that time which is great but I have suffered from hot fluses, night sweats, insomnia and general aches and pains especially in my knees.  I mentioned my symptoms to my GP last year but because I was being trated for high blood pressure she said HRT was not an option until it was under control.  She did offer to prescribe antidepressants which I declined.  My blood pressure is now back to normal through changing my diet and exercising more but after reading about HRT I have decided I'd rather not take it.  I started taking Premensil red clover 40mg per day last November and  after a few weeks it did help with the flushes and night sweats.  I stopped using it in January because I was having surgery.  My consultant said because of the lack of research on taking red clover supplements he wanted me to stop taking it two weeks before my op because it may cause thinning of the blood.   I started taking it again after the op but my symptoms were back with avengence by then and the tablets didnt seem to be working so I decided I was wasting my money at £21.95 for 30 tablets.  I suffered for about a month and was feeling very down through lack of sleep and up to 10 or more flushes a day.  I was planning on another GP visit but found an online pharmacy selling Promensil much cheaper than high street chemists.  I ordered them and have been taking 80mg a day, one in the morning and one before bed for 3 weeks now.  I had one hot flush at the end of the first week and since then nothing and no night sweats either so I'm sleeping better and feel so much better.  My mood has lifted hugly, I still have my aches and pains but can cope with that on its own.  So at the moment the red clover is working for me.  I'd like to know more about it but there's not much info out there.  I would recommend trying Promensil if you are suffering from hot flushes its definitely worth a try.

Please don't worry about moaning.  It's good to moan sometimes and if you moan on this site you will probably get sympathy and possibly answers to your problems and worries.  We girls are all in this together. DG x

Its great to share experiences, especially when something works as it may help others when they have nowhere else to turn
