Feeling detached
« on: June 15, 2014, 05:45:01 PM »

I quite often feel a bit "detached" in the mornings, especially if I'm tired.  It gets in the way of what I've got to do and can make me seem incompetent (I think).   I didn't really get this before the meno set in.
Does anyone else get this sort of thing and do you have any tips to pass on, about overcoming it?
  :-\
Thanks!
D.

Hello dulciana.

I have certainly noticed my concentration levels have fallen and I'm nowhere near as sharp mentally as I was, finding the right word is a struggle most of the time.

As I've mentioned before there a fifty sites in the brain that respond to oestrogen levels so when levels change some re-wiring is inevitable I suppose.

Maybe we should all put a sign on our foreheads saying 'Closed for Alterations'.

Wishing you well.

 ;D  ………. 'watch this space'  ::)

When really tired I often talk to people but am not aware of the conversation.  Hopefully I make 'sense'  :-X

Yes that's me! At the moment I am still finding it difficult to get going in the morning and try not to organise early starts. Please don't ask me to be intelligent or do anything that requires thought before 11.00am! Frustrating, but as my husband says it is as it is. Accept it and get on with the day when you can.

I have to get up whenever I wake. I have found that making a cuppa and going back to bed for a little while helps me draw myself together. If I just get up and start the day quickly my anxiety increases a lot.
A much slower start helps. In fact on the days I have to be somewhere I set my alarm early so I can have my slower waking up time. The days of running about as soon as I am awake are a thing of the past.

It's not anxiety so much for me as energy levels on some days. Though I get stressed if I have to have an early start. I allow loads of time to accommodate IBS issues. I have a fear of having an accident, which has happened.
