Hello roxie64 and welcome to the forum.

For me the sweats were manageable, it was the other menopause symptoms that had me reaching for the HRT!

There are many knowledgeable women on this site and I'm sure they'll be along shortly to advise you.

Take care.

Hi roxie - welcome to the forum.

Have you been given any real reason for the withdrawal of HRT? Sometimes a GP will feel that fifteen years is long enough for you to have been on HRT but the years up to the age of 50/51 (normal menopause age) don't really count as you have merely been replacing what should have been yours naturally. It is usual for the doc to ask you to take a short break at the age of 50 just to see where you are at symptom-wise and then, if the symptoms are a nuisance, you are allowed back on HRT just as if you have never taken it.

Have a look around this excellent site - both the menu on the left of the screen and also our posts. There is advice about more natural products too under Alternative Therapies in the menu.

Hi roxie.  I was your age when I had hysterectomy, now 58.  Been on HRT pretty much all that time.  Meno specialist has only said I should aim to be off it by 60, despite the length of time I've been on it.  Currently on half an estradot 25 patch.  GPs have tried to get me off HRT for some time. I did try for 8 months a few years back, but I couldn't cope & I said I wanted life quality.

Maybe worth asking for a referral to meno clinic or gynae.

Hi roxie :welcomemm: from me too.

I agree with the others - no reason not to go back onto HRT as you are still only 50!

It is perfectly natural to replace the hormone oestrogen which becomes deficient at menopause. Not sure what type you were on but the "natural" ones - are the bio-identical ones ie contain the same oestrogen hormone as our own bodies make. This is estradiol and most of the preparations contain this. The only ones that don't are the horse ones beginning Pre- (like Premarin). These have a mix of oestrogens some foreign to human beings. here they all are listed:

If you look on this site you will see the benefits exceed the risks aged 50 - 60 so I suggest you ask for a referral as cubagirl suggested.

No need to suffer unless there is a medical reason why you cannot continue - most of us have chosen quality of life over misery, and those who are able have taken HRT and reaped the benefits!
