getting desperate now
« on: March 31, 2014, 08:01:36 AM »

:'( Hi all, me again. Still no let up in my nausea, whooshy head, giddyness, generally feeling awful. Tried taking hrt again for the full dose every day (kliovance) but I think I feel a lot worse now that I have done this, my breasts are agony and swollen hard too. I have yet another appointment for doctor today at 3:30, I have had blood tests for diabetes (very dry mouth especially at night) thyroid and anaemia as my symptoms are very like when I was anaemic. All have come back 'normal'. what now? do I try the very low dose patch (what would I ask for?) Do I go back to taking the hrt 3 days a week? I don't think this messing about with it is helping either. My son gets married in 3 weeks In Cyprus and I feel so worried that I will even be able to go feeling as bad as I do most days now. If anyone can help me, or felt like I do and has the solution please get in touch today if possible, also with the name of the hrt patch? Thanks all.

Maybe the more you worry about whether you'll be fine for your son's wedding, the worse you'll be.

Good you're going to see your GP. I can't give advice on HRT but others will know more, I'm on Estradot. Starflower capsules with minimum 200mg gammolenic acid will help your sore boobs, takes a few weeks though, but it does work.

There are so many health benefits from Starflower(Borage) oil besides helping with sore breasts.

"omega 6 essential fatty acid.  “Essential” means that the body does not produce the fatty acids on its own and therefore they must be taken in through the diet.  Your body uses GLA to produce hormone-like substances (eicosanoids) that support cardiovascular health. GLA also helps maintain cholesterol levels because healthy fats build HDL cholesterol.
HDL cholesterol is responsible for moving fat, from storage or plaques, into the liver where processing and excretion of fat occurs.  By decreasing fatty build-up on arteries it helps to regulate blood pressure.   GLA reduces the production of an inflammatory compound called arachidonic acid.  Arachidonic acid causes pain and inflammation in conditions such as arthritis.

GLA helps to make the sheath (myelin) that surrounds the nerves that conduct messages from the brain to the muscles and organs of your body, performing a similar function to the insulation sheathing of electrical wires.  If this protective sheath degenerates (as in MS), a "shorting out" of the message that the nerve is carrying occurs. Since healthy fats play a large role in hormone formation, borage oil can thus help optimize hormone levels in both men and women.  GLA supplements are used to treat atherosclerosis, high cholesterol, arthritis, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, PMS, menopausal discomforts, multiple sclerosis and liver cirrhosis.

Borage seed oil contains a significantly higher concentration of GLA than other GLA supplements. Ensure your borage supplement is not processed with heat because it damages the acids and creates free radicals.  Some of the damaged fats turn into trans-fatty acids, which are well known for their promotion of cardiovascular disease.  Refrigerate all liquid borage supplements and keep capsules away from heat because they can become rancid"

Its a supplement that is worth considering before, during and after menopause. I have known women taking this, and not on HRT and seem to glow with health, one was a mature lady who owned a health shop and I can remember asking, perhaps naïvely if she was on HRT as she looked so well, she replied "I don't take any of that stuff, I take Starflower oil" it was at a time when I thought HRT was the only answer and dismissed it, but I think differently now.

Hi fultime,

On the boob front - I can help a little. I see a breast surgeon every 4-6 months because I get cysts and bloomin' painful they are too!

I've been taking Starflower Oil 1000mg daily for years. On the odd occasion I have had a flare-up (like last month due to me buying the wrong capsules - only 80mg GLA!!!) he recommends taking the capsules 3 times a day for 6 weeks to help get the GLA levels up.

As for HRT - maybe a different route of admin might help?

Good luck for your son's wedding.

Constant nausea is debilitating  :'(  :-\ ……… ask your GP for something to ease those symptoms, i.e. motillium - I have in the past taken anti-sea-sick tablets from the Chemist but they do make me sleepy.

Ginger can ease symptoms too.
