PR and a voice for Crohns
« on: February 25, 2014, 08:42:41 AM »

I could not believe it when I saw on This Morning, Sam from TOWIE (which I don't watch by the way) who had been diagnosed with Crohns.  It's certainly raised awareness and the amount of people on the show and their FB page and in the daily rags talking about it is excellent.  Some horrible comments though, through ignorance.  Even sports people are now talking about it too, with Ray Wilkins for one (although his is colitis but equally as bad). It was refreshing that it's being talked about and I for one felt quite proud if that's the correct term, that although its debilitating and just horrendous to cope with you are certainly not alone.  It's the disease no one wants to talk about and then suddenly it's being talked about

Well done Sam

My older sister has Crohns and my younger sister had Ulcerative Colitis (she's had a permanent bag since her late teens)- I really agree that there needs to be more awareness - these are terrible conditions that ruin lives - so any heightened awareness is a very good thing.  DG x

Any awareness is good.  It's keeping up the awareness of important issues that gets to be hard work  ::)

I know someone with Crohns also someone with ulcerative colitis. Both well at the moment, but have been seriously ill with their conditions in the past. All these serious conditions need to be out in the open.

It is good that awareness is being raised for Crohns it's a horrible disease/condition. But, what on earth is TOWIE?

Hi all,
I have chrons disease - it came on when my daughter was 6 months - she is now 30.  I remember being told I had chrons and I was devastated.  In those days there was no Internet just books and reading about chrons in a medical book was terrifying.  It's not the best illness to get but thank fully I never had any of the really nasty complications although I have got an Ileostomy - my large bowel has gone.  It's great there is so much awareness these days and the fact this girl has got it will help raise awareness and understanding as it's not easy and it's with you for life.
