The Power of a Hot Flush!
« on: January 04, 2014, 04:43:58 PM »

Since coming off HRT in August my hot flushes/sweats are really intense and happen every twenty minutes or so. I bought a new bra before Christmas - not an expensive one - but it's a really pretty shade of deep blue. I wore it for the first time yesterday under a white little vest top with a jumper on top of that. When I got undressed later in the day I found that the white vest top has a perfect outline of a blue bra "stamped" on it! I know that I am fed up with constantly feeling like I am wearing a wet bra but I guess this is the proof!!

Just as well you had jumper on top. Or could be useful for a Moon walk. ;)

Full of useless ideas me!  ;D

Hate wet bras, most uncomfortable. Shame about the flushes though. Do you think you'll manage to stick it out this time? I've halved my patches, only first week so may be a wee while before the joys of flushing kick in. If someone could say you'll be over it in 6 months I'd be happy to put up with it, but I have my doubts.

Uncomfortable Taz. Good job you had layers on otherwise very embarrassing.

I am cutting my patches down to get to the least amount I can deal with. As soon as I do it my IBS kicks in but I know it will settle in a few weeks. I want to get to the point where I perhaps have the occasional hot flush but can still sleep. Trying to accustom my body to less hormones.

Have you decided what your long term plans are ?

My exact question ………. why suffer if there are alternatives?

Taz, Sounds like you will have to wash that bra separately to get rid of the blue dye, unless your flushes have done this for you!
I have yet to find a comfy bra that copes with the “under bob” irritation I occasionally get no matter how careful I am washing and talc powdering as often as I can. Best find so far is a 100% cotton, it does not flatter but it is comfy. I do hope that your flushes subside soon, I am in the a similar boat - trying to reduce HRT has resulted in instant return of my body thermostat to highest setting! As cubagirl has said if we knew when it was going to end it would make it so much easier to cope with. I am just entering year four and counting........ . Getting clothing right is a costly business, I am best in cotton or wicking type tee shirts. Hey Ho......
I did a cold turkey stop end of 2010 and had an awful year before going on low dose HRT to make the hot flushes and night sweats manageable (actually I am just permanently hot), now trying to reduce without getting the massive “blast” I had with the abrupt stop. I long for the time I can sleep under a duvet again and snuggle up in some PJs!
