I know ::) DH likes an early start to avoid the traffic.
I think the journey is about 6-7 hours from here, not including stops.
As he's driving all the way, whatever is easiest really and being a Friday,it's a busy day for holiday traffic.
Got to keep him happy ;D

Hope you have a really good journey Dyan. I'm only 180 miles from my favourite Devon spot which takes three hours - don't like stopping - so I guess you must be double the distance! Have a fab time.

Off to Holland on Wednesday next week - we're taking the new caravan so DH is going to start getting it all ready tomorrow.  We'll try and get most of the packing done over the weekend as we're working all day Mon & Tues.  Dear friend coming up from Luton to doggy-sit  :)  Brother-in-law's 50th birthday on the Saturday so there will be a big family party, chance to catch up with everyone  :)

Saw your comment too late but it's ok - all done now anyway apart from our clothes that will go in tomorrow evening.  Luckily we have a very long drive which curves round - where the van is parked it totally out of view from anyone.  And it was just chairs, bedding that sort of stuff......Will be back on tomorrow but early start on Wed as we're catching the 9am ferry from Harwich.

We used to go to Arran on holiday a lot. My son is not a great sailor but I could always find the right spot on the boat that got him through. Outside if you can, and be able to see the horizon. Just back from the front of the boat is best

Hubby is not great on a boat and neither am I. My daughter went on a week's school art trip to the island ( an hour's sailing time ) They had to leave early due to storm force winds. It was so stormy when I went to meet the boat I could hardly stand up. It was the last sailing for two days. I watched all the green faces coming off and there was my daughter tripping off. The first thing she asked was could we get chips  ;D
Of course she was the one who had sailing lessons and wind surfing lessons and kayaking lessons.....guess she learned to cope with rough seas. Now she wants to learn to dive.....She can pay for those herself.

I am looking forward to our October break....it seems so far away though.
