I've just bought a Samsung tab 3 8inch version from Tesco direct as it was on offer for £149.99 plus I found a £10 off e-voucher online and used my Tesco clubcard points so got it for £122.  Their own brand HUDL looks good if you're not in a hurry as they're out of stock til the new year.  It has four cores which will make it run faster...apparently  ;)

Not had time to use mine yet so cant say how happy I am with it but I tried out the "sample" one in Carphone Warehouse and loved it  :)

I have an iPad but I don't think I use it to full advantage.  I like it though.

Hubby bought me a 10 inch Google nexus tablet for my birthday and he has bought a galaxy tablet 3 7- inch for his Xmas present.

We both have the original type of kindles. I don't keep the books I buy from amazon on my kindle. I remove them (back to amazon account) once I've read them cos I'm a neat freak and I like my kindle tidy  ;D

Iv'e recently bought myself a Samsung 10 inch tab 3 and I love it.
I'ts so easy to use and so easy to hold or carry around.
It's cheaper than Apple but people say it's a better buy as it does more and it' s quicker than my laptop.

I have a basic kindle just for reading, I love that too as I find it difficult to hold large books.

Sounds good Ann, I've got to pick my 8" up from Tesco direct still.  Did you have to set everything up on it or do you just switch on and go?  I'm no techie!!

Milliemoo, I'm not techie either so I payed £10 in store and had it all set up.
All I had to do when I got home was to switch it on.  :)

I have an iPad and since the upgrade of its OS to iOS 7, the web browser crashes a lot. Apple support forum is full of people with the same gripe. They will sort it, but when?!
However I still prefer it to other tablets as it's a little bit easier to use.
I'd consider the Nexus 7 though as it looks a nice device and I have a google smartphone.
Tablets are very useful - I use mine for travelling as well as at home and love the Kindle app for reading - but can't replace a computer (they're not really designed to, as they want you to buy both of course  ;)).
Lovely to read on. iPad used to be great for web surfing but now prefer the laptop due to the constant quitting.
Q for those with a nexus 7 or android tablet - do they support swype typing? (you know when your finger doesn't have to poke-type, but you can just sweep it across the keyboard?) Best thing about my phone is that.

Oooh - I have a google phone. Well that's what it says when I switch it on! OH gave me his old one to practice on and then he gave me a thingy to listen to the music through for Christmas and I actually managed to bluetooth it so that it works! I know this sounds such an easy thing to do but with my very limited patience at the minute it was a real feat! The music sounds great through it and, of course, everything is in the cloud so if I lose the phone I don't lose  my music. Maybe I will keep it after all!

I doubt I use a fraction of my phones function. Why fiddle with a little screen when I can do it quicker and easier on my Kindle or laptop.

I know I should learn to do more but I just can't be bothered to be honest. My son has tried to teach me various things but my eyes glaze over and I switch off  ;D
