hi flan747

am i ask where you apply the gel as i used 2 pumps on thighs but didn’t obsorb and increased to 3 but felt awful took a break from it 2 months and went back but combined progesterone daily and applies the gel to my arms obsorbing so much better so am on 2.5 pumps daily utro and tostran one pump every other day only issue i have which i have had since starting hrt is hair shedding and no matter what dose the only thing that stops it is stopping hrt yes i don’t sleep well still and have sweating armpits especially in the heat but bloating and weight gain so will go a little longer however if dosent stop hair shedding i’m coming off it . but if you apply to thighs try arms as i’m on 2:5 pumps and level was 1238 pmol which is upper end but mood so much better i do well on progesterone estrogen unopposed not good

Hi Sammiejane
Yes I apply to inner thighs? I have a blood test booked for today to see how I am absorbing and appt with specialist on Saturdays who then wants to change me to Sandrena as she says is superior to Oestrogel? I believe it is recommended that is applied to arms due to thinner skin and therefore better absorption! I only managed 10 days progesterone so will see how next few days go as it may also that which is the problem! I have thought about slowly stopping to see where I am at but am petrified of all the awful unmanageable symptoms returning! I have been on HRT now for 14 months and still can’t get it right! Each time I try for 3 months so so give it a good go! Will keep you posted how I get on

Hi Sandi,

I too started the same medication 10 days ago.
I have found it to be really helpful, no more flushes and sleeping soo well.
Perhaps change where u apply gel, maybe ur not absorbing it so well.
Hope u feel better soon.

Why did your doctor say 2 pumps was the max you could take Winnie?

Through pure ignorance I believe, she was new, and said she'd checked and that was what she'd found out! X

I'm not sure. But I went up to eight pumps which didn't make any difference anyway. I think only five days utro is not enough though but I could be wrong. Hopefully someone on here might know a bit more.

hi kate

thanks for your response

could you tell me how long after you started, that you saw results as in hot flushes.  mine seem to be more often than they were before.

i am applying the gel at 21.30 hrs and putting it on the top of my outer arm, and take the tablet orally.

is that what you are doing?

thanks

Hi Sandi, yes im doing the same although I alternate between arms and inner thighs.
I noticed a difference very quickly, the biggest difference was that I slept so well, I hadn't slept in weeks properly.  The flushes stopped within a few days.
Its day 13 today so no pills but I've come on already which I wasn't expecting.
Also I'm wide awake at almost midnight.

Be good to compare with you how u are doing.

I have been on this combination since December.
I upped to 2 doses of gel and alternates between inner thighs and upper arms but was still not getting much relief from night sweats.
I recently changed to applying the gel to the insides of my arms and that has made a big difference. Nights sweats stopped almost immediately.
I am still anxious and cranky but at least I’m not woken by the sweats( just other stuff!)

I am going to reduce the gel to 1.5 pumps and see if that works. If it does then I’ll try it at 1 pump.

I have also noticed that since applying to inside of arms that along with the obvious increase of absorption I have increase of hair shedding which I haven’t had up until now.

hi kate,

day 11 it actually started working,
only had 3 flushes a day and only one lasted 10 minutes so im much happier in myself and moods are slowly improving and feel much better altogether.

i am sleeping better too, dont have the drowsy feeling in the morning anymore either.

i am only on 1 pump on outer arms.

i am 57 and post menopausal so i take it for the whole month not like you, hope your period isnt too bad, and at least this way you should no when its coming.

i havent even had any side affects from it , so all good here at the moment.

hi violetbat

I'm not sure its a good idea putting it on both arms on the inside of them.  i was told you shouldn't put it there because it could too easily be passed onto the breast which is not a good idea.

Help with blood test results
I am currently on 6 pumps gel and 10 days Utrogestron used vaginally! I am due to start Sandrena tomorrow as poor absorber.
Ive just had results back:
Oestradiol 253pmol/L slighter higher than when I was on 4 pumps
FSH level 6.8iu/L what does this mean? Seems low looking at other posts
