HI , I am taking 1mg Ellesste solo about nine months now, doing ok but now the flushes are back at night with a vengeance. I think I need to go up to 2mg but all this news Im hearing lately about staying on the lowest dose is best worries me . Im 53 and had a hysterectomy a year ago.

It could be that 2mg is now the lowest dose that is best for you? I took 1mg for 6 months then upped to 2mg, now 18mths later I've gone back to 1mg. I'm 53 and hormones can fluctuate so I thinks its trial and error. If you're not happy on 2mg after about 3mths, then go back to 1mg and see how you feel.
Good luck - peri-menopause to me is a journey not a destination.

Hi Anjia
Sorry to hear your flushes have returned - but if you only started taking HRT a year ago you have a long time to go before you've been on it for a significant length of time, and the advice on this site is that the benefits generally exceed the risks until age 60.
So - if 1 mg is not controlling your symptoms then why not try the 2 mg? There is no point in suffering if you don't need to. Expect to feel a bit strange until your body adjusts to the higher dose and I do hope this does the trick and helps you to feel better.

Since you have had a hysterectomy and don't have to take progesterone, why not try the higher dose.
Or since you are worried about it, could you take 1 1/2 pill for a while to see how you do?

I think that sounds like a good idea to take an extra half to see how it goes,do you think I should do this for maybe two weeks to see how It works without going to the gp or see him first I hate waiting in the surgery everyone coughing and sneezing!

Well, that is a decision you have to make for yourself....or you could call and ask the nurse if that is something they will let you do. I don't see how it could hurt you for just a short while, but you may run out of the pills early, so you better make an appointment in advance if you decide to do that.
