I don't think it's only male and young female Drs. I have to see a nurse practiotioner because the Drs in my small town don't deal with "female problems". My NP is a older female probably in her 60's and I am getting no help from her. I keep getting told I'm depressed and she just wants to prescribe stronger anti-depressants. It's so frustrating!  :bang: I usually leave there either in tears or feeling like I want to scream!

Thanks for the update and so pleased that you have at last got a Good Result well done that GP  :medal:

Don't do too much too soon though or you will use up energy and feel rotten in a few days  ;) - don't run before you can walk, remember your body has to adjust to the medication and catch up!

Mamakaren - change your Practice!

i am trying to change my practice CLKD. It's tricky though as we have a Dr. shortage here and finding a decent one taking new patients is next to impossible! Currently on a 3 month waiting list to see a gynocoligist.  :sigh: It's good to see others are getting better results and I am hopeful for the future!

I live in small town Alberta in Canada. I don't think the drs here know much about meno. I know that whenever I go to the pharmacy to fill my hormone patch prescription they don't have it and have to order it in. Maybe I really am the only one here suffering?

Hi Mamakaren, try a doctor in a bigger town near you. make it a day trip and see a specialist. It will be worth it.

Thanks and yes I am looking to see a gynocologist. You need a referral here, so I'm just waiting for my appointment which is in 3 months. :( I'm on a waiting list to get in sooner if there is a cancellation but since this isn't considered an emergency it's not likely to happen!

In the meantime, I'll just keep trying to cope!

@ Suzi Q

I still get the odd hot flush, but today I did not have any bone/joint pains at all when I woke up.

However my thumb is not responding well and still giving me problems.

Also I need to set my mobile to remind me to take the tablet at the same time everyday. I keep forgetting. So memory not yet back to fully functioning capacity.

Not sure what kind of health care system you have in Canada, but can you not go private? Or ask your doctor to get you in priority?

Our health care isn't privatized so that's not an option. I have asked my dr. to try to get me in sooner but she says she can't.  :(

So you have no doctors one can visit privately and pay for their service?

No breadfruit, unfortunately that's not an option. I am going back to my np today and am going to try to convince her to try something else for me!
