Oh SuziQ! - I keep hearing of health problems with friends of our age more and more - a friend and colleague had a stroke last week and another friend had an operation for bowel cancer.
This makes me all the more determined to improve my quality of life (hense dealing with meno symptoms).
I think we all agree that we should be allowed to continue with some form of HRT if we want to provided there are no real health risks - and that will vary from person to person.

Hi there,

I am 54 and haven't had a period since July 2012.  I can say that I am post menopausal and have noticed recently that when I am aware I need to go to the loo in the middle of the night, I sometimes barely make it in time.  Is this urge incontinence?   Is this the beginnings of atrophy.  Up until now, I haven't suffered from dryness but my libido has taken a downturn and just wondered?

Hi donnarob
There is another thread about this urgent need to pee so try to find it.  Sadly I would say it is definitely part of the atrophy effect.  I think it is very important to do your pelvic floor exercises.
I get a bit of stress incontinence now - when I sneeze or cough.  I've resorted to using thin panty liners 'just in case'.
I've had problems since having my children over 26 years ago - through the day I can go between 3-6 hours without needing to pee but I always have to pee at least twice during the night.
Vagifem or other local oestrogen creams may help you - might be worth a try.
