Prempack C- worked for over a year - but noticing changes now
« on: September 30, 2013, 07:36:34 PM »

Hi,  Have been taking prempack C 0.625 for 15 month,   it worked brilliantly for ages,  no more sweats,  more energy  (although I now have a monthly period again).   However,  the last few months I have noticed changes,  sometimes have awful breast pain,  no libido again and vaginal dryness.   I know that people say HRT does not cause weight gain but I have gone up a dress size.    The other thing is that I sometimes feel so sad and weepy and even fearful and anxious for no apparent reason.   Has anyone else experienced this and if so,  please could you advise.

Thank you so much.

Dear Janjee

I dont know how old you are or when and if your periods ceased but am sending you at least my sympathy and understanding.  I am nine years without periods and experiencing menopausal symptoms, all very trying.  The weepiness, fearfulness and anxiety that you talk about are symtoms of menopause.  Many of us are in this boat here, just everything getting on top of you and starting with the tears, whereas previously you could cope a lot better.  It may be that as time has progressed, your own oestrogen level has dropped.  If you have an understanding doctor it would be worth going back for a chat, perhaps you would be willing to increase your dose level of HRT.  Contrary to what some may say, I think taking HRT can in many cases increase weight as oestrogen is intimately connected to the building of fat.  In my own case without much oestrogen my weight has gone down, in fact I would like a bit more plumpness, especially under the skin.

I hope that someone else can come along to help.  I am still struggling with all of the symptoms at 59 now and also in a quandry as to what to do but just wanted to chip in with a reply and to let you know that we all understand what you are going through if that is any help.

Hi Meg,

Thank you for your reply - and your understanding.     I am 50,   had started perimenopause 3 years ago but had to opt for HRT in July 2012 when symptoms where interfering with my career and causing lots of misery.   at the time  i had been without periods for only 6 months so felt that i could manage them again if HRT started them up again.     I was lucky,  in that,  the main symptoms before HRT were sweats and dryness.        I find it so helpful to be able to have this site to refer to and to realise that I am not on my own.      I think it would be helpful to visit my GP to see if he will increase my levels.

I sometimes think that my life revolves around hormones and their effects on my body, whether it is bloating,  burning,   water retention,  fears etc., especially as I could have many more years of symptoms,   I get sick of hearing myself go on about it  :-\.       But - I am thankful for the advice and reassurance Meg and it has been helpful.

Jan, i really sympathize with you.  As Meg said we are all in the same boat and sometimes i think it is going away/getting better and then bang! back again.  Sounds as though you do need your estrogen increased again so you probably need to visit your GP and get it checked.

Meg i cringed when i read that you are still struggling at 59! i do hope you are over the weepiness :)

Jan i am 52 and had gone down to 50mcg patch but i have had to go up to 75 again as my headaches increased and i felt down, weepy and irritable.  I do hope you get sorted out soon x
