I am 46 years old (47 this December) and have for the first time just experienced the oddest period. I bled for my normal 3 days but the day it stopped that evening I got brown cm and have had it now for 9 days its only now going lighter and on the odd day out of those 9 days I had pink blood colour and then it went back dark brown.
I asked my GP about it and she said its normal to get brown cm after a period and not to worry but she was not interested in how long I have had it or anything else. Because I had my progesterone levels checked out a month a go and they came back extremely good showing I was still ovulating that she says its nothing.
But I have had sharp pains near my ovaries on the left and with this brown cm too and felt so tired that I did a pregnancy test but it came back negative this morning so I am presuming that this is in fact the peri- menopause.

If anyone has experienced the same thing when it started as what I am now experiencing I would love to hear back.

Hi Tina - from my experience this is typical of peri-menopause. I see from your past posts that you had similar in June where you thought you might be pregnant?  Try not to worry - you will eventually get used to your body doing different things to what you are used to. During peri the hormones level rise and fall out of sync and so periods are not clear cut anymore.

Yep.  My periods came, went, started again; light, dark, brown, clear ........ for 2/3 years.  Then stopped! :-).  Nothing is the same but is likely to be 'within normal limits'!  We get various pains too ........ or become more aware of our bodies and the various nips ......... I often yelp but can't explain why    .......
