How long does it take for HRT tablets to start to settle symptoms ? it is a very long story but after many visits to GPs and consultants who have been no help I have know been told they think I have been put on the wrong tablets and so have changed them Nearly 4 weeks have gone and though the awful crawling all over my skin has started to subside I still have these awful heats and chills
I have wondered if I would be better going on a coil and stay on just the continual HRT tablets that you don`t have to change half way through your cycle.
I am 58 years old and had to come off the HRT 20 months ago as I had a bleed which turned out the GP had changed my tablets to non bleed some 12 months before and I was not ready.. I have since gone back on the HRT but nothing has worked I have tried gel, testosterone implants and still we are no further ahead. I have been to see an endrocologists who says there is nothing wrong with me.
Any ideas as I am at a loss and need some help

Barney what dose of HRT tabs are you on? It maybe that you need a higher one.
I would have thought the HRT would have kicked in by now, but maybe it wont if the dose isn't high enough, I dont
have experience on tab form as im on patches but I'm sure some other ladies will be along shortly to advise from their experience.

I am on 2mg of elleste duet and I am having the most horrendous flushes today which makes me think do I need go on a continuous HRT tablet. I was wondering if you can have changes of your symptoms when you change from tablets to allow you to bleed. This is my second change of tablets and so far nothing is working. Any ideas . I have also been on an testosterone implant plus oestrogen gel and nothing again is working

Which HRT were you on originally Barney? At your age obviously a continuous non-bleed HRT is the "norm". On the sequi tab, however, you still get a steady does of oestrogen throughout the month - the second pack of tablets contain both progesterone and oestrogen. With the conti one the progesterone is there throughout the month in a lower dose.

Maybe you would be better off using patches - as perhaps not enough of the gel was being absorbed to deal with your symptoms. What dose were you on?
Like Smokey I'm on patches and these have always eliminated most of my symptoms ( flushes, sweats, general aches and pains)

Thank you all for the advice. I am on 2mg of Ellestee duet. which were the tablets I was on originally before all this nonsence started 20 months ago I have just had a terrible period and have decided this is going to be my last. I have also used the gel but my symptoms are still pretty awful.
I have booked another appointment with the gyno for next Monday 16th to discuss were we go from here.
