Thanks silverlady.
I remember years ago reading one of Claire weekes books.
'self help for your nerves' I think it was called.

Just looked at the link.
Very interesting.

She helped me not one bit  >:( - by the time I got to reading everything on the subject I could pick up, she had moved on and to be honest, I felt that her books read like she had never been in my situation.   :-\

Yes I agree CLKD.
I read the book but it didn't make me better.
It was only that my GP at the time recommended it.
My GP then didn't have a clue either :-\

silverlady - i just dipped into the Utube link you gave and found it very interesting - so much common sense.  She was probably a pioneer in her time when so many were over complicating things. I only watched the first couple of episodes and i suspect she is using cognitive behavioural treatment which is now accepted as the best way forward for many.  The pressures on women are so great these days I think nervous exhaustion is an ongoing problem that is simply not addressed.
Last summer 2012, when I went for my annual HRT check up, I told the practise nurse how exhausted and stressed I was after a particularly tough few months and she simply told me to take some hot baths with scented candles - I wanted to scream at her. DG x

Nothing wrong with scented baths and candles as long as we feel we are being listened to  ;)

She wasn't listening, she was being patronising. For my check up this year I made my appointment with the other practise nurse who is so much better. Can't take hot baths anyway because it aggrivates my burning fanny.   :-X dgx
