I think the  fluid is there to protect the joint from 'floaters', i.e. pieces of debris within the knee joint.  Healthy knees should not be swollen all the while!

I never thought of arnica for my knees.

I used to use it on the kids bumps and bruises when they were young.

I used to use Aromatheutics EZE Muscle and Joint Gel for joint pain. It was very good - contains rosemary, eucalyptus, wintergreen and black pepper.
