Polyp found

Hello ladies,
I am sure this subject has been touched on before but I am getting myself so worked up.
Had to have a hysteroscopy last week as had a brief episode of post menopausal bleeding (I finished my periods about a year and a half ago).   When I had my scans about four weeks ago, my gynae said I would have to have a hysteroscopy as my endometrial lining was about 4.9mm.   So I had the hysteroscopy last week and she said everything looked fine except I had a very small polyp which she removed.

At first I was so relieved that she had found the cause of the bleeding but now as I wait for the results I am panicking big time as I have read that incidences of malignancy in uterine polyps are much higher in women who are post menopausal.   Has anyone else had experience of polyps after menopause.   And should I be worried?

I hate this waiting for results!

Sorry, I have no experience of  this
But,  thinking about other scans / biopsies the results usually come back really quickly if something nasty is found.
So perhaps no news is good news?
Know it's easy to say, but try not to worry, it won't help.

Hi mummajo,
I had a hysteroscopy last month due to bleeding after a 3 & a half year gap. I posted about it here:

http://www.menopausematters.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,21936.0.html

They found a polyp on my uterus, they took a biopsy whilst doing the hysteroscopy, & I heard officially 2 weeks later that the biopsy was all clear & normal.
They did not remove the polyp like they did yours. They did say that if I get more bleeding I would probably have it removed, but I am sure they said it would be under a general anaesthetic  :-\.

Try to stop worrying about it, if it was anything bad I'm sure they will have been in contact with you by now, or if you really can't wait then phone your doctors surgery & ask them if they can chase the results up for you.

Let us know how you get on.

Thank you so much,  ladies,  for your supportive comments  they really help  :)

I have things a little more in perspective today.  Just have to be patient.

And Cazi - I have just read your post.  So glad your results were good but so sorry about your father.  What a sad time for you.

Ah thank you Daisie - really kind of you to reply.  I think I've been doing too much searching on the Internet and just scared myself.  Glad to hear all was ok with you.

You are all such kind ladies, thank you.
Received the letter today saying all clear so v relieved. And although it seemed an age 10 days was pretty quick. Also got smear test results which was done at same time which normally take weeks. So a happy bunny!

I know this has been discussed elsewhere but having had hysteroscopy under local I wld really recommend it. I know some consultants won't do it but I was in and out within an hour and felt fine.

Anyway thank you again for your positive comments

Hey mummajo

Didn't see this thread before and thanks for posting on mine - so glad to hear everything is all clear and what a relief. It's great that they do all these procedures but worrying all the same!

You can enjoy the sunshine now!  :sunny:
