When my dad was in India, just after the war ended, he used to say to my brothers when they had a curry......'that's not a curry, curry is what I eat out in India, not that rubbish!' 😂🤣 of course, totally different.....

I live on curries when we go on our cruise as the chefs are mostly Indian and oh yum,there is definitely a difference,your dad was right 😊

Currently cooking roast beef in mustard crust. Hedgehog potatoes, carrots, leeks and sweetheart cabbage and yorkshire puds and gravy. dessert is a bought  chocolate cheesecake.

regarding the curry debate, I lived in Leicester for 16 years which has a huge Asian population. I worked with asian girls and used to go back to their homes where older ladies would be sitting on the floor with a large bowl of rice between their knees preparing it to cook. i watched them making samosas, japatis and lots of sweet snacks using loads of condensed milk.  I still use recipes they gave me as I cook all my curries from scratch.  Their recipes are quite different to what we get in restaurants as they are made to suit the British palate.  likewise curry mixes and jars.

PF - DH uses a lot of coconut 'milk' in curries.  Samosas are Oh So Fiddly but Oh So Worth it  . It is worth noting too that the men ate separately from the women - when asked we were told 'tradition'.  Well nope.  It's because the women were busy cooking

Oh olives 🤢🤮 I've tried so hard to like them but it's just not happening
